No wonder I can't find a good deal on the Colonial Survival knife. You have them all. The Navy Pilot kit was almost as interesting as the knife. Especially the fishing kit. You wouldn't easily loose that knife. I want to say it was almost a hacksaw blade so you could make good use of the metal on the airplane. Funny thing you using a modern razor. I went back to the old double edge and never looked back. Here is a video on the survival kit. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXy4lHmef7GgaZY

In the UK we get cheap Chinese razors and they are very hit and miss if they cut your face or pluck your beard. So When he came out with all the plasters I was not surprised, but realised he was messing about.I buy twin blade with names Wilkinson Sword, BIC and not now Gillette. You get 4 for a pound and they give a comfortable shave.

This was another interesting video. I am really impressed by the size of the Colonial Survival Knife. It is massive for a pocket type knife. I can also see why the more modern survival knives have a thicker blade for the saw. Thanks for taking the time to share this as I learned a lot.

Incredible info in this one vid John. I had never seen the Jiant before. I do remember as a kid longing for one of those regular survival knives though. Every kid back then HAD to have one. Then they started getting gimmicky with hollow handles for matches, a fishing kit, a ball compass built into the bottom of the handel etc. EDC - Kershaw A100 multi tool. Been at my side now for about 20 years as my third hand. Extra one pacled away a dresser drawer for if and when this one ever breaks.

Scout, I saw a movie a few years ago with Robert Duvall and Tom Cruise. Duvall plays a Marine and Cruise asks to borrow his weapon. Meaning a high powered rifle. Instead Duvall hands him his Kabar. HI Greetings from the UK , The pilots survival knife is ` bomb proof` not as pretty as more modern examples but rock solid - I have used one for years . The holes in the cross guard are so you can use cord to lash the knife to a branch to make a spear , if you plan to use one of these for back packing / survival soak the sharpening stone in light oil then wrap in cling film to stop it drying out . Great film - thank u .

It has to be a horrible place that doesn't allow a man to carry a knife. My first day of kindergarten I used my pocket knife to cut something instead of getting scissors and got sent to the principal's office for it. Mr Leonard asked if I had a knife in my pocket and I answered "yes, sir". He asked why I had a knife and I answered "because a man always carries a knife". Then put his finger in front of my face and said "and he keeps it in his pocket. Now get back to class." I have always carried a scout knife and still do. Sometimes it is augmented with a Leatherman or an electricians knife. I have a pilots knife and a MK IV(identical to a KABAR) but rarely carry either. In 1974, in the Army, I learned to throw the MK IV and it works good for that. I've found that anything bigger than my scout knife isn't necessary. Very good video. Good Luck, Rick

@@ScoutCrafter In 63 when I was 12, I was walking down a street in town with a .22 rifle over my shoulder. A cop stops me and ordered me to give him the rifle. I came to attention and did a proper present arms(my Scoutmaster was a West Pointer and he drilled us). The cop inspects the rifle sees that there is no bolt in it and no cartridge in the chamber and hands it back. He then asks "how many did you get?" I told him that it was a slow day and I only got 33. We were allowed to shoot rats at the town dump on Saturday Afternoons after it closed. It was a lot of fun shooting the moving targets and it kept the rat population down. It turned out to be great training for in the Army later. Life was a lot more rational when the WWII vets were running things. Zagray is this weekend but my back is acting up. Don't know if I'll be able to go. Good Luck, Rick

How well do the Barbisol twin blade razors shave? Regarding the clip on the various pocket knives, some people believe that the exposed pocket clip takes the knife out of the "concealed weapon" category in those places where larger knives have to be openly carried on or about the person. I don't know whether or not this theory "holds water," as Cousin Vinny said in the famous movie, but it gives you something to talk about if you are stopped. In "no-locking blade" jurisdictions this probably wouldn't help you, depending on how the law is written. In other places, if you have a valid hunting license and claim to be going hunting for something that's in season, there is a certain latitude given as to what knives, etc., you can have on or about your person, whether in a carry bag, a belt or in your pocket. If you want to carry a medium to large size knife or a lock blade knife of any size with you, consult someone in your area who knows what's permissible. Thanks for showing us the various survival knives - those giant folding knives are something I had never seen before.
@ScoutCrafter5 жыл бұрын
If a police officer wants to arrest you for the knife you are carrying there is nothing you can do to stop it... They have loopholes built into the law just to trip you up... It started to stop gang members and thieves but we know how that goes... All big cities are shot... You either comply or become incarcerated. They are robots.
