This happens every year at the Cal Ripken baseball stadium parking lot in Aberdeen MD, right off of I-95. Check the rally's website next year since it may move somewhere else along I-95.

Yes, some trench art, an office sign for a former CO at Aberdeen, some wrenches, two cannon borescopes, a huge vise weighing over 100 lbs., projectile fuzes, projectiles, a 105MM APDS round (inert but complete) and more stuff i've put away and forgotten, Oh some kind of machinist's level. I've got some photos of some of the stuff, maybe I can put links in here later when I find 'em. P.S.-I am also a dealer there.
@cannonmn15 жыл бұрын
Yessir, what I can remember now, from that long ago, is a big painted wood door sign for an Army general, a pc of trench art with Arabic inscriptions, a 120 lb. vise for the workbench, several projectile fuzes I didn't have in the collection, some massive lug wrenches, a 105MM arty round, two cannon borescopes, and some other stuff, all priced right.

M274 Mule. Had variants from M274 thru M274A5...Willies made them, had a Continental AIr Cooled engine in the A5 I know (first five variants had pull-start motors)...4x4, all wheel steering except on the A5, used to tote heavy cargo in war...need to take the place of 'mule trains' at the end of WWII drove development...that is how it looked in service (less the dummy holding the bear...and the AM antennas on the rear). Army and Marines used them up to around 1982-3...entered service in the 1960-61 timeframe (development went from end of WWII to 1960). The one shown is a 'Grade 3-4', which would (or should) fetch around $5,000 now...A 'new in box' one would fetch $12,000...MUCH CHEAPER (and better machine) to buy a worn-out John Deere Gator and refurbish it...cargo on both was only rated 1,000 pounds...

toxicguitar that is a vehicle used to tow bombs to the planes is my guess, it had a pintle hitch on it. that is my guess
@michaelhamilton32938 жыл бұрын
just because the vehicle has a pint let hook does not mean it is fir towing bombs out to the planes.
@michaelhamilton32938 жыл бұрын
one doesn't tow bombs to planes. Bomb delivery is done with a 5 ton road tractor and semi- flatbed. The bombs are taken from bomb breakout and loaded onto the 40ft. flatbed. 110 (500 pound bombs), 92 (750 pounders) secured by 5/16" steel chain lengthwise and the same at 20' across the middle.
@michaelhamilton32938 жыл бұрын
then the delivery veh. takes the load to the BIBS area, where plastic nose and tail plugs are removed. then the boosters are incerted and driven in using 3/8 drive air impact guns. Next stop the BABs area and the incertion of the fuses, (nose and tail) and the arming wire connected. The 3rd stop is fin install, then it is taken to the ready line and sits until at least 20 trailers are built up. Then the convoy of trucks takes them out to the flight line and parks parallel to the B-52bomber between the fuselage and the first outboard engine pylons. the trailer is disconnected, chocked and explosive placards removed and the trucker goes back for another load.

Routine actioned off old TA-50 unserviceable junk the Army was just going to toss out and instead sold it for pennies on the dollar to civilian surplus store owners. I went to a few of those auctions down in Texas and most everything was garbage. I did see a few interesting items worth taking a look at but now a days, most military equipment from the 70's, 80's & 90's is just out dated garbage considering the lightweight quality outdoors clothing a person can buy at North Face or Duluth.
