The Philippines has expressed surprise at the United States' decision to send hundreds of missiles and weapons to the country. The weapons are being transported on C-17 Globemaster III aircraft and will be distributed to Clark military base on the island of Luzon. The shipment comes amid rising tensions in the South China Sea, where China continues to show an aggressive stance.
The missiles and weapons were loaded onto a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft and will depart today for Clark military base on the island of Luzon. The shipment is intended to strengthen the Philippines' air defense capabilities, especially in the face of increasing Chinese aggression in the South China Sea. The plan is for these missiles to be used to arm the Philippine Air Force's A-10 Thunderbolt II fighter aircraft.
