This video describes the military situation in Ukraine on the 12th of June 2024
On Russia's National Day, the Ukrainians launched an unsuccessful attack on Crimea. US and French reconnaissance aircraft were spotted. The defense of the Crimean Bridge has been reinforced by the Russians. The Russians destroyed a Su-27 and an S-300 air defense system. In the direction of Siversk, the Russians broke through along the railway tracks. In the direction of Avdiivka, the Russians are making progress towards Novoaleksandriivka and Novopokrovske. In Kostyantynivka, a battalion of the 79th Brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces lost its combat capability and refused to follow orders. General Syrsky was also on-site near the village to assess the situation.

Except it's possible to intercept a Kinzhal, which is simply an air launched ballistic missle (ALBM). Not to mention, ballistic missles are hypersonic during their terminal phase. So there certainly a level of technicality involved so Russia can claim it's a hypersonic missle. As opposed to hypersonic glide vehicles (HGVs). Like the US LRHW and Chinese DF-ZF.

Just so you know, the United States does not have enough submarines to cover the Russian fleet in the Atlantic or the Pacific. The United States downsided the submarine fleet, this occurred in the 1990s. The Navy works on the following principal. A ship class would have one ship at c Sea, one ship refitting, and one ship in the yard being overhauled. So you need three submarines to cover the one assignment they need at sea. Each carrier fleet has two fast attack submarines. To accomplish this, we have to have six submarines as described above. The ballistic missile submarines don’t count because they’re on their own. And that fleet has been massively downsized. That doesn’t leave a lot of extra submarines to go after the Russians . United States used to be able to do this, not anymore. To my point. If we got in war with Russia, we would have to transport the bulk of the munitions and weapons systems by sea. We don’t have the submarines to protect convoys . Remember, we have to worry about the Pacific too . And this is on top of the insufficient military population and lack of weapons to sport attrition war. We’re making bets that we can’t cover

USA hasn't downsized it's sub force. It is trying to build it up. Problem is, USA like all western nations were deliberately depopulated by westerners and deindustrialized. One outcome is that USN cannot build new ships at a required rate. Nor can it maintain its existing fleet. This is what collapse looks like. A nation is only as good as its people and the people of USA from the 50s are gone.

Trying to force all of Europe together in a woke/socialist organization like the EU was a disaster from the beginning. Too many different languages and cultures. If it wasn't screwed up the pre-1914 situation is ideal where you have a few large nations that bring together broad but somewhat aligned cultures within Europe. There would need to be adjustments of course.

That Armenia would break away from Russia was a long time in the making. Pashinian seemingly thinks that Russia is going to lose the war and thus wants to switch sides. Armenia is tasty for NATO, because it is enother encroachment into the Caucasus, which threatens Moscow´s hold over this strategic region. Moscow however will in one way or the other assert its dominance again and Armenia is likely going to end up like Georgia.

I am once again flabbergasted by the fact the Armenian PM is still in power, he lost two wars, then gave away Armenian villages giving the Azeris everything, getting nothing, abandoning their closest ally for vague promises of support from a country known for lying on the other side of the planet. They were literally stronger in the year 100 BC. Armenia has never had a darker future. This isn't really a loss for Russia though Armenia has no resources of note nor a strong army or position, its weak with a negative birth rate. The Armenian church isn't in communion with the Russian Orthodox church. Armenian's ain't slavic. Azeribaijan has lots of oil, natural gas, and minerals near the Caspian sea. It has a positive birth rate and despite being Muslim has a moderate and progressive views to the point its friendly to Israel. Russia can focus on a more positive relationship with Azeribaijan and Turkey than being held back by Armenia.

The rules are quite clear regarding navigation of/over International waters. The U.S. and Co. have been demonstrating the use of these laws for some time in the China Sea, and over the Black Sea. As a demonstration of friendliness and mutual respect, China and Russia could create permanent patrol areas through the Gulf of Mexico. A particularly beautiful area to transit for war-ships are the International waters of the U.S. east coast, between North Carolina and Virginia--just a stones throw from some historically wonderful sites.

The US has long argued, on record, that waterways you'd think are Canadian internal waters (bounded on both sides by Canadian land) are in fact "international waters", so no country should have any right to regulate access. I agree it's time countries champion this US position with demonstrations of free movement. Begin with the Hawaiian and Aleutian Islands but don't miss out on touring through the beautiful US San Juan Islands on your peaceful visit to Canada.

Armenia is wedged in between Turkey and Azerbaijan and in the near-mid future, it cannot hope for much Russian support. Turkey had already threatened war onto Armenia should they intervene in the displacement of the Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenia is strategically encircled and not in the position to refuse any 'offer' made. It is however remarkable that Turkey has been potentially welcomed in BRICS a couple of days ago for they act as a NATO agent in the reshuffling of the Caucasus but maybe Russia has already silently agreed that they will leave the South Caucasus to NATO in turn for keeping Crimea, Donbas and X in Ukraine plus the mountain passes of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The new frontier will be the essentially the Caucasus mountains, rump Ukraine, Armenia and rump Georgia are the designated face-saving prizes for the West. So peace, trade and travel with Turkey/Azerbaijan seem more valuable to Russia than supporting a pro-Russian Armenia (pursuing double-pronged politics in the past anyway) through unsure Georgia in conflict. Three cheers for Turks/Azeris, Georgians and Armenians becoming all happy neighbours as newfound part of the NATO family.

Kherson direction is not "very difficult to understand" as you say Dima. There are four objectives to the SMO and one of them is "demilitarization". So if the Russians have eyes on Ukraine Military on the Right Bank they will take them out as they should according to the military mandate laid down by the Kremlin and Department of Defense. I think that is a lower priority than targeting the Right Sector (mostly in Lvov) and NATO (mostly in Odessa, Kiev and Kharkov) but I'm not in charge of the SMO.
