Is the Bradley Fighting Vehicle truly as effective as they claim?

Since the beginning of the year, the U.S. has been providing Ukrainian forces with Bradley Fighting Vehicles, or BFVs, as part of their aid packages. These BFVs have played a pivotal role in Ukraine's ongoing counteroffensive. As the counteroffensive continues, some Ukrainian soldiers credit the American-supplied Bradleys with pivotal contributions, especially in saving lives. Notably, two soldiers from Ukraine's 47th brigade express their gratitude, asserting that they and their fellow crew members owe their lives to the protection provided by the Bradley. Praised for keeping the soldiers inside alive even after getting hit or knocked out. Soviet/Russian IFV's are not known for that, which is why they tend to have higher top speeds. Since speed and not getting hit is their only real defense. But in slug feast like trench warfare in south, that just isn't possible.

The Ukrainians say the biggest benefits of the Bradley other than it is good at shoot and scoot. Is that if it is hit, because of how its designed the troops inside are usually fine and able to dismount and still attack. But most importantly the psychological effect of US made Bradley on Russian Mobiks seems to be the most useful. US propaganda has been effective enough, that the average Russian soldier doesn't want to tangle with US made stuff. So when they see them they run, they booby trap the hell out of trenches they flee from, but they still flee. In fact the Ukrainians say most Bradley and even Leopard 2 losses are to enemy mines and artillery. One Ukrainian Bradley drive said he was in one of few ambushes the Russians have done. It was élite Russian forces recently transferred to Tokamak front. Their lead Bradley got hit by a Russian anti-tank missile knocking it out. This was followed by the Russian troops attacking the group, but once the soldiers exited the knock out Bradley from its rear hatch and started attacking as part of US/NATO anti-ambush tactics. The attacking Russians just left, they fired off a few more RPG's and anti-tank missiles that hit nothing. It appears once they saw knocking out a Bradley didn't kill the soldiers it was carrying, it made the ambush or ambushes like this pointless. In the end they recovered that knocked out Bradley and were able to use if for spare parts.

The new DU 25mm round penetrates most armor. There are accounts in books about OIF where this is related. Iraqi T-72s (without any modular armor) were destroyed by DU rounds from US Bradleys.

Bradley can completely shred a T 72 or T90 from the side or back using its 25 mm gun, firing depleted uranium which can penetrate 100 mm. Bradley has better thermals in the Russian tanks. If the Bradley needs to destroy a T 90 from the front, it’ll fire a TOW 2B missile , which will blow up over the top of the T90.

The A-10s in the manual are instructed to attack Russian MBTs with MISSILES, NOT BULLETS because the bullets cannot penetrate a MBT from ANY angle of attack. NO EXCEPTIONS. At most, the 25mm gun will damage the optics of Russian MBTs, but won't go through the armor.

Funny then as the Bradley has a massive kill streak against Russian armor. The second highest is held by the Abrams MBT. Despite Russian lies about their garbage, US armor actually works. According to indepedant Oryx 28 Bradley destroyed, 27 damaged but repairable. The US has about 2500 of these in storage. Russia using up it´s BMP1 storage IFV from the 1950s. Oryx says Russia lost 2,817 BMP so far, of which more than 600 were donated to the Ukraine army.

Its designed to keep up with and support Abram MBT as a "light tank" role, along with its infantry in its main role as a IFV. In fact Bradleys have actually taken out far more Russian armor than even the Abrams. True the IFV doesn't have the armor to stand toe-to-toe with MBTs and slug it out; however, it was never intended to. That's the job of the Abrams.
