As a retired homeschool mom and Sunday School teacher, I still have and use 3 ring binders for planners, for recipes, for those little freebie craft sheets you get at the hobby stores, my medical papers I get from my doctors, for my family tree, Documented Faith, prayer requests, my "I Did It" checklist (works better for ADD persons like myself), doodles and poetry, appliance papers, take-out restaurant menus, phone book, travel brochures, sermon notes, artist trading cards and pocket letters, and any other loose papers that come into my house. I love that laminated rose petal dashboard. Very pretty!

I'm also a school supplies lover! I've raised 4 girls, and just loved getting all their school supplies every year. Only one of them inherited my love for a new binder with a fresh pack of filler paper in it. They're all out of school now, and getting their own college supplies, but I still love buying it for me. So I've been making a home management binder, home made planners, etc. I love an excuse to get cute supplies lol And I'm 48! I LOVE how cute and pink yours is.

This is actually a super great idea! I might implement this in August when I start university. At the moment, my teenie tiny planner meets my needs because I really only have to schedule a few lines for homework assignments and my daily to dos, but I’m already stressing out about the fact that I’ll have so much more to do and just need a bigger space once I’m on my own and in university. Plus it’s a perfect place to keep your syllabi! Thank you!

I loved this idea and I had printed out some binder planner pages in July but wasn't sure where to start. I bought a pretty binder and supplies last night and created my planner watching this video at 1am. Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions. I love your videos.

WOW that's an amazing ideal. I wish at 45 I could go back to school myself too. I used to like The Happy Planner. But it's never ugh enough room for everything for my catch book. I'm so glad that I ran across your video.

When I went to college and had free printing (up to so many pages per day) I printed out calendar pages and assignment pages, etc and made my own binder planner. Now that I know so much about planners and planning, I would make a seriously awesome, best ever planner/bullet journal. (Alas no printer currently) I used this clear folder that had a slide type clip in the middle to hold your pages in that I got from the school bookstore.

Finally! Where have you been all these months I have been looking for the kind of planner I need & want? I am a 67-year-old female, disabled/retired, lifelong learner who still misses being in school & loved it when I was & loves school shopping every August. Not yet having found a journal that meets my requirements, I finally decided last month, as I was again school shopping for myself, that I needed to design my own journal in a looseleaf notebook. I bought a full-size looseleaf & a few items to be able to keep my journaling supplies corralled in it. That was as far as I got. I was hoping to find some really pretty-colored, college-ruled paper but did not & still have not; guess I will have to settle for white & decorate as I go along. I am artistic, so that will do for now. I need SPACE to write & doodle & jot & list & whatever else I decide. I need to keep track of multiple medical appointments, in-home nursing visits, budget & bills, personal priorities (foremost being my spirituality), things I need & want, & what I need to make the most of my time & what little energy I have. Last month, i was finally able to determine the three specific features my journal must have. Quite unexpectedly, i came across your video tonight. I can not believe how much alike we are when it comes to our journaling prerequisites! Watching your video made me realize how out-of-the-ordinary I am & that I just have to accept that reality & create my own space --- & my own kind of journal! Thank you!

Yes! So smart. I started making my own planners about 5 years ago after I hunted for something I liked plus affordable. No luck there. So I made my own. I really like the brain dump page. I have a brain storm page, I guess that would be almost the same thing. Anyway, I think that's a really good tip. I love decorating and creating the pages. Thank you so much for sharing this with everybody. I have turned down a few requests for a homemade planner but I think it should have their own mark on it and the creation should come from them. I am going to share your site with them from now on(I just came across your site accidentally.)because your cover looks very professionally done. I think that's what a lot of women want. Feminine and professional looking. I cover mine with material, paints, drawings, and lace; it looks good but not professional. Anyway, Great ideas and I will definitely pass on your channel to all my friends and family and those who want to know more about organizing their life. (I look forward to watching those videos as well.)

Hi! I'm alot like you. But I'm disabled and can no longer work. My youngest daughter is 24 and is autistic, Aspergers Syndrome. My husband has terminal cancer. So what I do is I use my highlighters to plan appointments ex. My daughter's appointments, work schedule etc. are highlighted in green, her fav color. My husband's appts are in blue, his fav color, and my appts. are in purple, you guessed it, my fav color. Yellow is used for the dogs and other family members and friends' birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Hot pink is for really hot pressing appts, ie. Chemo treatments, when things are due, etc. So I am really happy I found your videos. Can't wait to watch more of them! Thanks for sharing!

Love Back to School supplies ...my favorite time of year 😁 I just made my own system in a binder and notebook paper, too. Made my own calendar pages, put washi tape as monthly tabs, and made a 2019 year at a glance out of mini monthly, blank sticky notes from Target dollar spot, and decked it out with matching seasonal stickers, (love stickers, too)👍 I couldnt see spending lots of money on something trendy, so I made my own.👍

Wanting to go back to school isn't strange at all. Think of it, we went to school for 12 years of our lives! More if you went to pre-k and K. It was something that we did every year...then one day it just stopped. Some go on to college but even that ends one day. To me Back To School season feels like the beginning of a new year and end to an old one. Even though it's not our calendar year.

Zach&Hannah M. Love these comments about going back to school. Two things: 1. Love this video!!! 2. After completing my masters I’m thinking on studying music. Like pursuing a BA in music production. Most people will mock me because not only do I want this badly but also my doctorate in Psychology. (Not to be a licensed therapist) isn’t it interesting how people make you feel guilty for wanting to learn? For all of the learners out there just do it. If you’re going to pay for the classes, if you are committed, if you have the drive and passion go for it. I actually didn’t tell many people I was going to pursue a masters after my BS but when I finally did oh the jealous people. I cried and felt guilty for wanting to be educated and my love for school. This video has inspired me to organize everything both in my personal life and professional life. Thank you!

2:19 dies from envy! That is sooooo beautiful! I appreciate that immensely! That is just so pretty! You're so right about having to squeeze into small space, and how much better it is to have a lot of space and being able to relax when you go in your planner/journal. I saw this video a while back when I was hunting down ideas. While I don't love binders, I did want to find a way to use letter size paper in my journal. I discovered disc notebooks like the TUL and ARC system. (I have to say TUL has better paper, but ARC has nicer accessories like discs and covers.)

But I do want it to be a bit cuter, and more organized than it is now, and I think the way you're doing it it's the perfect mix between practical, organized but still allowing some creative and artistic freedom, and beautiful to look at whilst still remaining clean-looking and without it being "too much". I'm 76 and take on line courses. I just switched to a binder to keep everything for my classes in the same place as the rest of my life. Really liked the dashboard with the rise petals. I am not artistic so use magazine cutouts, adult coloring book pages, photos and washi to decorate my pages. I also use a binder that has a vinyl page holder on the front so I put my Monthly cover page there. At the end of the month I just put it with the monthly calendar and put the new one in. I had (and used!) a binder consistently for maybe a year and a half or two. I checked it every Sunday or Monday to get on top of the week ahead. It helped me so much to center my brain! Eventually, I did get a Filofax Domino because I wanted something more pocket-sized, but I definitely experience getting antsy with writing space that is any size smaller than _large_, haha! I'm still figuring out that transition. The nice thing about a large binder is that it feels like an unfoldable "place" I can "get into" more. I don't really know how to explain that. Personally, my main, lasting difficulty is figuring out what makes sense as a versus what should go into a smaller section on something like a combined overview-page. You also reminded me to bring the braindump back, thanks!

Hi Charlotte! I recently found your channel, and I love this video! I have ADHD and I could never stick with traditional planners or small planners. I love school supplies as an adult as well lol. This BINDER idea could totally work for someone like me, and I am willing to give it a try! I have all the basics at home to get started, and I like how easily this can be customized to each person's individual needs and preferences. I especially love the BRAIN DUMP sheet... I'm certain it would wonders for someone like me! Thanks again! Fawn 😊

I love school supplies too! I homeschool my children so I still get to play with them! 😜 I use binders for organization too and I enjoy seeing how others use them. I even have tiny index card-size binders for my scripture memory flash cards!

I loved this video-- thanks so much for creating it! Your system really makes sense. I tend to buy planners that last for a few months, at most, because I nitpick the things I don't like about them and then lose momentum. I've considered doing an A4 discbound size, which a lot of your ideas would work perfectly for!

I really love your videos. The way you think makes me wonder if we were twins separated at birth. Lol. I first watched fly lady control journal and it really helped me so I watched this one. Portable calendars are great but like you said I have too much going on in my head. Lol. This was very helpful. keep sharing.
