Nice video. Nice herd of cows. The video tells a lot , cows in good condition, clean and docile. That shows good management!!

I really like this style of milking. You get to be so close and one on one with them. You would see right away if they had anything going on right away bc you can get an eye on the whole cow.
@tmarbee10 жыл бұрын
great parlor for most any size herd. Some farmers around here milk anywhere from 40 and some milk 250 in the same type of parlor and another benefit is much calmer cows, Great video. would like to see more.

+Mosnang Holsteins I've been looking into inexpensive ways to milk and wondering if you've had any problems getting cows up on that step up platform or keeping them up there? Also in the 15 years you've been using it have you ever had any of them get hurt in doing so?
@rockymountainman78 жыл бұрын
You got a pretty nice parlour there. The flatline parlour is one with great efficiency and is largely underrated. Anyway, looking at your video i see that you loose quite a bit of time between cleaning the udder and putting on the machine. Once you cleaned the udder and stimulated the cow into releasing her milk (oxitosen) you might as well hook up the machine right away while you are there. Saves some walking and shaves some time off that 1.5 hrs of milking too. The other thing that i seen is that the auto takeoffs can't seem to keep the machines off the ground.
@mosnangholsteins41247 жыл бұрын
Hello, thanks for the comment. We like to leave the cows for 30-60 seconds before putting the machines on, it is something we have discussed with our veterinarian and agree that when the cow has let down her milk then they actually milk out faster than if put on directly after being wiped.

The 4 brown cows on the left are Jerseys; right? I guess they could be Guernseys or Brown Swiss,,,,,,,🐄🐮👢. Nice operation, cows are well kept. Two of my uncle's had farms; one had 20 acres with 6 Herefords in MA. The other had 200 Holsteins on a 300 acre farm in NH. Good friend has 150 Jerseys, on an 80 acre farm in Mendon, MA; Greener Acres. Learned a few things along the way,,,,,,,😎. Love the farms, lots to learn & lots to know!

Grew up milking in a straight 8 flat barn (not a step up) then moved into a double 6 herringbone. Worst mistake we ever did. My regards to a nice, calm, & quiet operation. When a barking dog is the loudest thing going, it's being done correctly.

I appreciate that your cows are docile, but please do the dairy industry a service and delete this video and make one where they are combed, clipped and cleaned/washed. You should never picture cows this dirty. Also, the fact that your milking claw and teat cups touch the concrete would not pass inspection.
