Based upon this very review, I visited Mala Hotpot in Ximen, Taipei. Oh my, an experience not to be missed. All you can eat in two hours!! plenty of time, they just keep bringing you plates of meat!! You can go back for more seafood, veg, BEER, as many times as you want. If you're in Taipei, seek one out, but make sure you leave time for ice cream!!

well its all u can eat ;) so if they wont limit time there would be ppl eating all day and pay just the normal price... so either the place would need to produce cheaper or limiting the time (maybe u can pay another 2hr) but i would limit meat servings per 2hr so no one can do like 50 meatplates in 2 hours.... so every plate has a limit caluculated how expensive it is^^ so if its kobe it will be limited to 2-3 servings normal cheaper beef 5 or so^^

I grew up in Taiwan so i know the first hotpot place is just like a normal chain stores hotpot place you can find anywhere in Taiwan , but the second one i think is one of the best hotpot place in Taiwan, the quality is very good i tried it several time before. And @Mikey Chen if you ever have a chance to go to Taichung you got to try the spicy hotpot call 老四川 the sauce is very unique and broth quality i think is the same as the 馬辣 or you can try the famous one call 鼎王. PS: i miss Taiwan's food Orz

A VERY IMPORTANT TIP ABOUT THE MALA HOTPOT PLACE - If you are not from Taiwan and are going to this hotpot place for the Wagyu beef and prawns, check the menu they give you for the Wagyu beef and prawns BEFORE you start ordering. If it’s not on there, request for the menu with the good stuff before you start ordering. It does cost extra. My husband and I were visiting Taiwan and went to this place. We spoke in english at the front counter and they sat us down at a booth. They gave us a menu that excluded the Wagyu beef and the prawns. We went specifically for the Wagyu beef in this video so we knew it was missing from the menu. Although my husband is not Chinese/Taiwanese, he could speak and read a little bit of mandarin so we were able to figure out that it’s on a different checklist (written in mandarin) at the table. After we gave them that checklist, we got a weird vibe from the waiter. Shortly after, multiple waiters and waitresses kept coming back to our table and were flipping through our menus. They kept repeating to each other in mandarin that it’s not on our menu - which my husband could clearly understand. Even after we requested for it multiple times within those two hours and having to explain that we even paid extra for it, we didn’t receive two plates of the Wagyu beef until the very end. It was literally the last two plates we ate before we got up from our table. My husband thinks there may have been two menus to choose from. I, on the other hand, got the feeling that they wanted to cheat us (non-Tawainese) from ordering their best meats because they never mentioned two menus until we kept pestering them for the Wagyu beef. Especially when we paid extra for it! Guess we’ll never know for sure, but just want everyone who’s interested in the Wagyu beef and prawns to know that there’s TWO MENUS and they won’t tell you about it!!! 👍
