Amy Christoffers is a designer who lives in Vermont. Her garments in the Pressed Flowers pattern would be beautiful in Making Tracks. I’m planning to make the cardigan using MT.

Ladies- the segment where Amanda unfurls the banner and hooks the top is fabulous. As she finishes with that “Tada” moment, the buckets of roving to her left are also unfurling, being lifted up to be spun into yarn. It’s a pretty stellar shot. Thanks for sharing your journey.

Don’t buy the mill……may apply to a huge segment of the population, however, you both appear to approach life with a unique lense….problem solving, find a way to say yes, and enjoying the moment! What a beautiful match!❤

I'm a huge fan of the Icelandic Bind-off. It is an easy, beautiful, stretchy finished edge. Thanks for the origin story....never too much detail. (And, Peg, I'm with you on the multitude of colorful turtlenecks.)

Another great Episode, Ladies! Looking forward to seeing you at NH Wool & Fiber fest soon. My favorite New England designers are Bristol Ivy, Jen Steingass, Thea Coleman, Amy Christoffers, & Andrea Mowry. Looking forward to learning about & supporting more local talent. Cant wait to see what was in the millbox.

The mill box is fabulous! I opened it as soon as I got in the car at the post office yesterday. Peggy, your comment that owning the mill has been “a fabulous adventure” is so good. I think it’s why the millcast is so fun to watch; you are sharing this great ride with all of us. Thank you!

I have done both tubular and Italian. Tubular has the additional set up rows, that actually creates a tube before the BO row. Italian (sewn) omits the set up rows. I like tubular for turtlenecks, but Italian for hems and cuffs, as it seems flatter.

Flatter. Interesting! Thanks for taking the time to comment!

❤oh my goodness - the other Savage Farms colors - when will those be in the shop? Still dreaming of what to put with my box treats - but know more Making Tracks and Savage Farm yarns to put it all together - oh the purple and dk greens. Love the origin story of the mill and what others wrote - never too much history and mill backstory. Your sweaters are beautiful.

Hurrah for another fine millcast! Now to a question: Which JFM yarn/s would you recommend for the Stockholm Slipover? Thanks from your CARDING/LATIN/THISTLE fan.
@junctionfibermill Жыл бұрын
We'd recommend any of our Farm Fresh yarns - they're all DK weight just like Amanda's yarn from her sheep. The Montadale + Cheviot is nice and soft and comes in a bunch of colors. We will also be launching the Savage Hart Farm yarn soon so stay tuned for that if you want yarn from practically the same flock of sheep as Amanda's.

Hi ladies, first of all I love you guys! I found the millcast at the end of last week and fully binged it while knitting socks. You two are honestly so inspiring and such a pleasure to listen to and learn from! Talk about dreams 😍 I have some questions, if you'll humor me. 1) Without giving away your recipes I would love to hear more about your dye process at the mill for Making Tracks. Do you use a mordant like in natural dyeing? (I'm still learning about dye work with wool and you ladies make such amazing colourways!) 2) Does some of Peggy's wool from Savage Hart Farms make it's way into your farm fresh part of the shop? I am uniquely interested in your gorgeous natural browns and oatmeal yarns that you show off! 3) I'm in the western US and I was wondering if you attend any fiber festivals out closer this way? If not I'll just have to plan a trip to visit you (which I still plan to do)

Hi Angie - the Savage Hart Farm yarn will be in the mill's online store shortly. Do you subscribe to our newsletter because when it's in the shop, the newsletter will let folks know. On the dyeing front - we use citric acid as our mordant. The other key is heat - we slowly heat up the dyed roving to about 180 degrees and let it "cook" for anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes! Hope that helps.

As per usual, I thoroughly enjoyed your mill cast. By a funny coincidence, I am just finishing the Petite Knit Weekend slipover which calls for the Italian bind off. I found her video hard to follow, reading the subtitles while I looked at what she did and pausing it frequently and almost always inadvertently moving the video back to the beginning! Anyway really struggled with the mohair strand getting tangled as I had far too long a tail. Got the body bind off done and was contemplating not doing it for the armhole but was encouraged by Amanda’s success so thought I would give it another try. Saw someone on Ravelry recommended this video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmamc2xrptmJlas) and it was easier to follow. I had no problem at all with the armhole bind off. Thanks for the inspiration!
