I'm no youngster myself, but I find it remarkable how old many of the top drivers appeared to be.

A lot of them were World War Two vets looking for a way to take their minds off of the horrors they had to endure. For a lot of them, pushing a car to high speeds helped take the edge off.

People are crazy right now, there probably would be many actions with idiots running across the race track with their stupid phones

@@mmarciniak Of course much, much slower because of the safety the cars would be auto limited in speed by satellites because it is virtually impossible to secure the whole track from people, maybe around 70 miles per hour average - but here the fastest did in excess of 106 mph believe me italian streets away from the main highways, are tight, very tight - I experienced a lot of it, would be a dream with of those Ferraris or Alfas without any restrictions if only for a single part route.

I'm surprised no MB's or VW, Borgward, DKW, LLoyd, Opel,Audi or Porsche race cars, though the 356's may have had the roller crank OHC engine in them.
