Amazing, super transparent and nice hardware. You can feel the natural way it eq everything without coloration. And in my opinion sounds quite better than the pluging mainly in low bands.

A very well structured video, thank you! Your simple, straighforward approach to evaluating this EQ is easy to understand, and the simple fact that you GAIN MATCHED each comparison gets FIVE STARS! I wish all creators of studio equipment demos would pay attention to this most important fact. Without gain matching, any audio demo is pointless. I have a Millennia HV3D 4 channel preamp that I use primarily for acoustic recordings in natural spaces, and I love how transparent and dynamic it is. Now that I'm shopping for a top class mastering EQ, your video has me leaning toward this unit. I'm also considering the Maselec MEA-2 and the SPL PQ Mastering EQ.

@gregpastic6910 Thanks so much! I'm so glad to hear it was helpful. Yes, after I did this demo, I really wished I could have kept it. It's truly in a different league. The Maselec MEA-2 and SPL PQ are on my list of mastering EQ's as well, along with the GML 8200, Sontec 432, EAR 825Q, Sontec MEP250EX and the Goly Porter Grinder. I think all of those are very good and worth your consideration if you haven't looked into them all already. There's also the Millennia NSEQ-4 Equalizer as well - similar to this NSEQ-2 just all solid-state and without the tube/twin-topology. It has an improved output stage as well. People swear by it. However, I love the tube/twin-topology option too much to go with the NSEQ-4 myself.

@@LesVegasMusic I ended up purchasing the SPL PQ EQ and the SPL Iron Compressor to compliment my Manley Mastering Compressor. The Maselec MEA-2 is next on my buy list. I'm friends with Bob Katz and he raves about the Maselec!

First off, this is a solid video! There was no bs and thank you for showing a number of different genres. With that, I’m looking for some advice, I’m looking at picking up the nseq or the ssl fusion. I do a lot of in the box, but I’m looking to build a mastering chain for hybrid work. Anyways, any advice? Thanks!

@ovid5424 Thank you! Yeah man, hybrid. That's the way to go and you're doing it right by looking at either the NSEQ or Fusion. Here's the thing I'll say, the SSL Fusion has more processing options right? So that's cool, and because of that, it has one up on the NSEQ. However, you can hear the Fusion and Ultra Violet EQ in my other videos at the links below. The quality of EQ is not even in the same ballpark. I mean, I like cars too so I'll use them as an analogy. I love BMW's, they're equal to SSL to me. SSL is the BMW of pro audio gear. Really nice. Really smooth. Really good handling. Really fun. But Millennia, well, to me they're like the Maybach or Rolls Royce of Pro Audio. Just ridiculously classy, sophisticated and unlike any other. Nothing can hold a candle to them and they do that on purpose by using the highest quality parts available without concern for pricing. They're both cars, and they'll both get you there, but which did you feel better behind the wheel of? For me, that's anything Millennia Media. If you could buy a used NSEQ for $2k (which I have, twice) or a Fusion for $2k, I'd say go with the NSEQ and get the Fusion plugins for $29 each. I mean, just listen to how close they are in the video below. Now, if the Fusion had a G Bus Compressor built in, that would be a tough call. I feel like in a hybrid setup there are no two better pieces of gear to get than a seriously good mastering grade EQ and stereo bus compressor. This is why I also like the Avalon VT-747sp as well. Stereo tube or solid state EQ and compressor all in one unit. This is why I sold my NSEQ and just got two Millennia STT-1's. Right now, I'm preferring and using headphones over monitors. I like the Sennheiser HD-600's, Audeze MM-500's, and the Slate VSX Headphone system. For monitors, I like ATC SCM25A's or SCM45A's.
