Waterwall Panel Replacement using ESCO Tool equipment

Beautiful video! Awesome clean cuts too! After watching the video, I felt like I might be able to replace a waterwall panel. Hope that everyone over there is well.

35yrs Boilermaking and no contractor ever rented any track saw like that, we used 6" bay flex cutting wheels on Metabo grinders. Plus them high speed millers blow. One last thing if we took this long to cut grind and mill 10 tubes we would have been shown the gate ie, Laid-off.

I retired after 35 years in Local 107 and most of the contractors always rented the track saws for the horizontal cuts because it makes a nice straight cut and then we use a 9” electric manual for the vertical membrane cut

I mean idk about you but we use inconel wrapped tubes and it is much faster with a mill hog not to mention the prep is perfect.

My Dad had a patent in 1988 that did all of these procedures with hydraulic motors that could mill a tube in 5 seconds. Specialty tool co. Memphis, Tn.

The boilermakers will insert a new panel into the opening...with the tubes trimmed to the exact elevation. Thank you for the comment!

Steve, thanks for bringing up tangent tubes. We use these machines on tangent tubes on a regular basis. We have a specific cutting blade with clearance for spinning around tangent tubes. The application is tough, but the tools work well.

That was the operator’s mistake and he didn’t nearly cut through it,just run a bead on it and grind it it off and it’s a done deal,O and it’s called a tube
