Millicent being Malenia's missing 20% health, in the context of the four phantom sisters she unleashes, is a great find.

Millicent's quest makes Malenia's story far more saddening. In a rash decision to gain a single victory over Radahn at all costs, she loses everything. It makes her line "I am Malenia, Blade of Miquella" far more chilling. In losing her daughters, she even has to remind herself who she is. That is how far gone she is. She really is a mother in mourning as much as she is a worried sister. What I find so interesting is that the Shaded Castle, which creates the prosthesis for Malenia, happens to have a prosthesis crafted to perfectly fit Millicent. It's not meant for Malenia. She's what? 9ft tall? Some have speculated that it was Malenia's "old arm" but why does Shaded Castle have it? The children of Rot might have asked for it, but then why is it guarded by a Clean Rot knight? They answer only to Malenia and Malenia despises the Children of Rot. I think Malenia was aware of her "daughters" and wanted them back. Knowing how the scarlet rot would affect them, she had the prosthesis commissioned specifically for them. Her Clean Rot Knights might even be in the Aeonia Swamp searching for them. Unfortunately, the Children of Rot got to them before Malenia could. I think Gowry intended to make the Sisters of Rot as an offering to Malenia to win her favor so she would at last accept them. Of course that would go over like a lead balloon. If you want to insult deity, a good way to do it is to steal what is theirs and then return it as an offering. But what does Malenia want her daughters for? That's the question. As the Blade of Miquella, I think its safe to say she likely would have respected her daugther's individuality and come to admire Millicent's resistance. Millicent is "her" after all. But as the Goddess of Rot, Malenia is a devouring mother; a terrifying creature that would consume her own offspring for her own gain. In other words, Malenia's designs for her daughter will depend on which is stronger: Her will or the Outer God that tries to control her. Which puts Malenia in a very difficult position: Millicent being her will and her pride would mean she'd have to kill her daughter to regain her desire to resist. But to destroy Millicent and take back her pride would also be serving the Outer God. When you return the gold needle to Malenia, her gift of Miquella's needle could be seen as a sign of gratitude of course. But it could also be a sign of anger at the death of her daughter and saying, "Get those outer god bastards."

Question: While millicent didn't have her arm when we met her, her siblings did. Why would malenia have a prosthetic commissioned unless millicent had already lost her arm. My guess is that it's definitely an old arm malenia grew out of, and she didn't want to see it fall into the wrong hands (it should I say hand lol)

The whole Rot storyline and all those afflicted by it is such a tragic tale. It pulls people apart within and without. I was so sad when Milicent chose to take the needle out in the end and I always felt this regret in fighting Melania because her story (and Miquella's) is just so sad. Millicent using the waterfowl dance might actually be the most compelling reason that Millicent is malenia since she had to be taught that move and a daughter wouldn’t just be born with that knowledge and skill, it’s driving me nuts trying to figure out if I should assist her and potentially miss out on more story in future content or betray for a chance of seeing her as a Valkyrie

Poor Millicent! Good video as always Zoe. I feel like Millicent's sisters weren't Valkyries before they were slain, but gained the strength of Valkyries when they were rejoined to Melania.

I believe your right about her being like a spore or like second budding of malenia that come to be when she unleashed the scarlet bloom, I was so confused about it when I was playing it lol but that's the conclusion I came too as well. Like grafting and even how death (being absored into the tree like mushrooms do with leafs and plants do with biodegradable stuff) is handled in a plant/mushroom like way, so I can see her being born in some kind of plant like way (in the game wording obviously points to it as well) I never picked up that they was all going back to malenia and she was missing some of her hp because of it. From soft masters of environmental story telling

Apparently the god of rot manifests itself as a giant scorpion, there's a dagger fashioned from a great scorpion's tail and is used as a ceremonial tool by those who worship the god of rot.

I believe Millicent's nightmares are her invasions of other players, as she does invade the player once in the Aeonian swamp, though I never really understood why or how. Does she do these things while unconscious from the scarlet rot?

Also about the God of Rot, to my point of view it would be an amazing addition to that quest where our character could have meet the blind swordsman the one that sealed the god of Rot. Also, the total antithesis to rot that flourish in still waters is a flowing waters.

So my weapon of choice was starscourge great sword. Went to see gowry, sat my controller down, accidentally set off starcalller cry, killed gowry.....and he turned into one of those bug alien things. If you pay attention wherever you find millicent you'll find those alien things.

The rot storyline is one of my favorite (allthough is quite bitter), that aside, milicent and her sister were not full fledged valkyries, also the fact that 4 valkyries were sent after you when you fight Malenia, means that the full blossom to a Valkyries can only be achieved by the goddess of Rot herself. So the line that said valkyries are doomed not to be blossom, is half true, valkyries can't blossom alone, they can achieve blossom only through the goddess of Rot.

After watching this and VaatiVidya's last video, I reckon Millicent's storyline was originally Malenia's storyline, and that after seeing her through her storyline, she eventually succumbs to the rot and attacks the player. But they separated the storyline to make it easier for the player to still fight Malenia even if they didn't complete all of Millicent's quests and kept her alive.
