The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is a 1966 Italian epic spaghetti Western film directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood as "the Good", Lee Van Cleef as "the Bad", and Eli Wallach as "the Ugly." This musical masterpiece is the score for the movie. It was written by Ennio Morricone, an Italian composer whose wildly inventive soundtracks made him a revered figure in international cinema. *A must watch.* As always, enjoying your reactions. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Danish National Symphony is great. I grew up watching all the spaghetti westerns with Clint Eastwood. I absolutely love all the theme songs from them. I have the "Hugo Montenegro" version doing all the theme songs (A Fistful Of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More & The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, Hang 'Em High) on record & on cd. It is one of my favorite albums.

Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson, or even Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. Italian westerns are way better than their acclaim in the 60s/70s. I daresay they are better than their American counterparts of that time. Sergio Leone was a god of a director, and Ennio Morricone's are unmatched. Well, by Nino Rota's, maybe.

The Dollars trilogy - Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965) and The Good , the Bad and the Ugly (1966) are each stand-alone stories so you don't have to watch them in order. Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone brought a surprisingly effective Mediterranean feel to their Westerns. Hence the term "Spaghetti Westerns." Another epic Morricone track is The Wild Horde from My Name Is Nobody (1973).

The sound beneath the "Wah-wah-wah" of the lady's voice is a muted harmonica....and yes, this is the signature song from one of the most iconic westerns ever made. Regarding listening to classical music, you might want to note that many artists and bands have taken inspiration from the chord progressions and musical themes which originate in classical pieces. The music is much different without the movie itself playing in front of you. The music is just there in the background, in this setting it is brought to the forefront and truly allowed to shine in all of it's majesty. If music can touch someone at their core and cause an emotional response it is an amazing piece of art in and of itself. Ennio Morricone was a master at his craft. He was able to score the film with a much smaller orchestra, and this piece is ageless and timeless.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Italian: Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo, literally "The good, the ugly, the bad") is a 1966 Italian epic spaghetti Western film directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood as "the Good", Lee Van Cleef as "the Bad", and Eli Wallach as "the Ugly".[9] Its screenplay was written by Age & Scarpelli, Luciano Vincenzoni, and Leone (with additional screenplay material and dialogue provided by an uncredited Sergio Donati),[10] based on a story by Vincenzoni and Leone. Director of photography Tonino Delli Colli was responsible for the film's sweeping widescreen cinematography, and Ennio Morricone composed the film's score, including its main theme. It was an Italian-led production with co-producers in Spain, West Germany, and the United States. Most of the filming took place in Spain.

The woman doing the wah-wahs that you were wondering about effects is being doubled by a harmonica which is what gives the sound that effect. This is from one of the three "Man with no name" spaghetti westerns (written, directed, and scored by Italians and filmed in Spain and Italy). If you are going to watch them you should do so in release order; A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, then The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. All were directed by Sergio Leonne and scored by Ennio Morricone. To hear a great rendition of Morricone's works check out the 5 men of the Spaghetti Western Orchestra performing for the Proms at Royal Albert Hall (20 min): kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIS3XoVrdpadkJY

I am a massive fan of Clint Eastwood and westerns, and have been for as long as I can remember. Some of the classics of the 60s had some pretty epic scores, and Morricone was a staple of that with the Spaghetti westerns. Also worth checking out is the Elmer Bernstein theme to the Magnificent seven. I was not even born when this came out but grew up in the 70s and 80s, and it did not matter if you had seen the film or not, you knew the theme to it. If you talked about westerns, the first thing that most people would do is hum this theme, its that iconic. The film is great, but may not be for everyone, especially considering its age and length. It's a slow burner, but when the action hits it really hits. All three main actors are iconic in their roles as well.

Hi Millie, great and genuine reaction ! First of all...the Danish National Symphony Orchestra is really incredible, they gave a "next to perfection" rendition of the Morricone's masterpiece...sincerely fantastic. I heard many other pieces of music played by them and they're all wonderful and creative versions of the relative originals. Second...I have to say I still prefer, "for an inch", the original movie soundtrack...the score was, in my opinion, perfectly dipped in the musical atmosphere of the times...the 60s...with rock music goin' on full speed. You can especially hear it in the sound of the guitars, which was dirty, distorted, altered, wild...I can't find the right definition, but that sound was not easy to build and that sound made all the difference !!! Anyway, this was part of the score of the film "THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY" -1966.....once you heard it, you can't avoid listening to the soundtracks of the other Sergio Leone/Ennio Morricone's spaghetti westerns: "A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS" -1964, "FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE" -1965, "ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST" -1968 (this is mandatory !!) and also "DUCK, YOU SUCKER ! -1971. Ennio Morricone also wrote another film score which Sarah Brightman begged him to use part of for "Nella Fantasia" and it's a gorgeous song that many classical and cross-over singers have covered. There are many fine orchestras around the world that have recorded classical, rock, and pop music all on YT. For the full classical orchestra, I suggest you listen to Beethoven's 5th symphony. It is probably the most well known of all. Cheers from Australia!!

this song is magic , it takes you back in time , at the time of the far west and cowboys - the rythm is that of a cowboy riding a horse , the Danish Orchestra is outstanding , Morricone is a magician .

Ennio Morricone scored a lot of movies, a few of which which were in the "Spaghetti Western" genre, so dubbed because most were filmed in Italy, France, and Spain. His portfolio includes three movies with Clint Eastwood that are referred to as "The Man With No Name" movies; The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly was one of those three. They are all really good movies, and the music is so fitting!

Signore Morricone ... finally... received an Oscar (and Golden Globe) in 2016 for his original scoring of the movie The Hateful Eight. ALL... felt it was decades overdue and iirc, he was given a long standing ovation for his brilliant work over many decades in the film industry. The music from the picture G,B, & U was the first soundtrack record I ever purchased. Still excellent and inspiring to listen to.

Regarding that voice thing: she is simply singing wah-wah-wah but I think you are thrown off by the fact that at same time the man on harmonica is playing the same notes and they create this eerie blend.

Ennio Morricone together with director Sergio Leone made some of world's most epic movies. Morricone's music has a huge influence in the Western movie genre. It is interesting that the most epic western movies were filmed in Spain, directed by an Italian director and composed by an italian composer. Yet, those movies created the image of American wild west.

The Danish National Symphony Orchestra is certainly worth looking into. They have done many shows with game music, tv shows and Fantasy. Game of Thrones, LOTR so on. Lot of gems among them.

Morricone is for sure one of the top5 movie score composers of all time. To say it's "epic" is barely enough.

A lot of people, both young and old, don't appreciate how important a classical music soundtrack is to the atmosphere of a movie. You should definitely check out the movie "the good, the bad and the ugly"

Here are the lyrics: "Yo,yo,yo,echo! Yo,yo,yo,echo! Yo,yo,yo,echo!" You're welcome!😁 BTW, I love it when you say, "It sounds so western! Well, what I imagine western sounds like!". I do believe that the Italian Westerns became what most of the world thought the American West was like, romantic, adventurous and wild with chivalry a lost art and where men slapped girls and kissed horses. In reality, that was about 80% right! 😆 John Wayne once called Clint Eastwood to talk about the Italian movies he was in and he told Clint he didn't like them because the movies weren't about family based men building a new world, and the movies were savage and mean. Clint tried to explain it to John but gave up and said, "I hear what you are saying but these are the roles I like to play.". Clint said in an interview, "John and I are of two different generations and I was never going to convince him to accept the new movies.". Which movies are more indictive of the real old west? Neither probably but the Italian West had far better music, so I'll go with that one. 🤠

Millie you have just listened to the sound track to arguably the best western in history ! You should be proud of the fact that it was produced and directed by an Italian. And the soundtrack you are listening to is one of the most iconic soundtracks in history produced by an Italian. Although it had some American actors I think if you get the opportunity to watch the film you will not be disappointed !! This blasted the Great Clint Eastwood into certain fame at the time and his partnership with Eli Wallach (TUCO) was timeless !!!!! Plz watch it closely !!!

Ennio Morricone is a wonderful composer. Some of the best movie scores of the last 60 years were composed by him. And this rendition by the Danish National Symphony was amazing.

Now for all you who love this music. I have a hidden gem for you all!!! In 1997 Lucasarts (yup, from Star wars/Indy etc) made a video game, Outlaws! To this day it remains one of my favorite games. And that's also largely due to the music, composed by Clint Bajakian and very heavily inspired by the Morricone scores. It's absolutely on par with those scores and does for the game what the film scores did for the movies. The 2-disc game can be played as cd's and you'll hear the soundtrack. There's also a standalone cd.
