I agree with some of the other comments, you should talk to Grandpa about making a stop that is 4 feet out from the saw so you don't have to measure every board or better yet a stop that is adjustable for any other boards that you may cut especially if the Hatchet House boards are a different length.
@jsjohnnyboy
@jsjohnnyboy 2 жыл бұрын
I agree. It could be simple and swing out of the way when you don’t need it. Make sure it’s adjustable so you can cut 3’,4’,6’ lengths.

That’s a great idea. I’d like to add, there is a wonderful book that I’d suggest for young people to read. It is “Letters to my son, written by Kent Nerburn. It is written as if a father is talking to his son, life lessons on love, responsibility, respect of a woman, managing finances, living good morals. I’m 68, my father died suddenly when I was 20. And through the years I missed his wisdom and him in my life. I found this book in the 1990’s, and somehow it felt like some words of his life’s wisdom, from a father to his son. It’s and fine lesson book for any young person

Always enjoy you young ladies doing such nice work. I grew up around sawmills and logging and am a woodworker. Your cut off saw is a "mean" looking setup. Seems backward to me. My father had a swing saw to do the same thing, rather than have the board move. Can I suggest a simple stop block to make reparative cuts. Wish I had some of that bass wood out west. I raised two daughters that work like you gals. Another proud pappa.

Nice, throwing hatchet's at the local lodge. I think the boots are prefect with that dress. You have a vary warming scene for style. However that's not what peaked my curiosity. It was that picture on the wall across the street. Symbolizes ballerina, piano among other preforming arts. Really cool painting. So Emerald, do you study dance there? It would explain how physically fit you look. Mill operator by day and ballerina by night. Or something like that. Super cool if it is so. The only thing I wish is that you had a picture of me. It would be prefect for target practice. Lol Peace and Ahev

I got my hunters safety card way back in 4th grade. The last day of the couse they had us at an indoor gun range. The guy told me, " Ok, you are shooting number 2." I shot and shot and shot. Dude told me, "You're not hitting anything." I said yes I am. I can see the hits.He said ,no you're not. Finally, when it was safe, I took him down there and showed him. Down at the bottom of my lane was a little block of wood with a number 2 routered into it. I had shot it all up instead of the paper target. Hey, the guy told me, You are shooting #2 (lol).

I was going to guess poplar and basswood for hatchet or tomahawk targets. I have cut targets for the Boy Scouts for years. Same species. I might suggest you reconsider the uses of poplar. Part of my early training was in downtown Boston where a 140 year old building is one of the newer buildings. I have worked on residences where the original build was more than 200 years old,, or even in one case,, more than 300 years old. One of the best,, the very best woods for painted trim work is poplar. Poplar holds paint better than any other wood,, and is astoundingly stable. very little movement once dried to furniture grade and indoors Black lacquer grand pianos are made with poplar. Any customer who is doing finished trim, interior that will be painted,, best choice is poplar. Sticker, dry it and sell it for a premium price. And that one board,, nice fresh green poplar with the splatted black staining,, beautiful. Sand and a clear finish. Charge extra.
