Funny about the rain not happening when you want it to, But you know that's part of living here in Oregon , But I know how you feel , Where I am in Oregon we usually have a lot of Power outages, so I put in my Generac whole house generator, even went over to your neck of the woods (Sandy) and got my 1000 gallon propane tank from Bull Run Electric, got everything up a running , yeah you guessed it we haven't had any power outages , but when we do I am ready..lol
@NorthwestSawyer3 жыл бұрын
Ha! I do need to do that too.
@richardromano40863 жыл бұрын
@@NorthwestSawyer I had to put off buying my mill and do the generator 1st , glad I did ,, an I am very happy that I ordered mine back in Feb cause I am set got the coming winter and thinking this year with all the fires , high temps and the ice storms we had this last season, winter is going to hit Oregon like a brick .. So if your thinking about a Generator you should get one ordered cause with the covid and everything it could take 6 months or more to get it, and propane tanks are going up in price , I got the 1000 gal, but Bull Run Elec there in Sandy had 1000's and 500's but they go fast

Great to see you again. It doesn’t appear that the current fires are effecting you - thank God! Good video - especially those moving shots (Thanks Chase!). Question: why to you take 2 or sometimes 3 waste cuts to get your cant? It seems like with a little planning you could save a number of cuts per log if you took off the bark + what ever you need to get to your cant on one cut. I’m sure that’s easier said then done!
@NorthwestSawyer3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, John! I edited it out but those other cuts are set aside and then I mill the edges later to maximize the yield.

What do you do with all the sawdust and the scrap pieces you trim of the logs while making the lumber? Is there a market for all that material?

If I had larger quantities there would be. I cut the scraps up for firewood and usually burn the sawdust on burn piles.
