Gene Raymond was a big star in the '30s. He had much lighter, wavier hair, then. If you recall actor, Jiseph Cotten; he had a similar hair style. Gene Raymond was also a good crooner. He later married a box office favorite: Jeanette MacDonlald, who was frequently co-starred with Nelson Eddy.

@@michaelwertzy9808 Jiseph Cotten and Gene Raymind ("Raymond" is a typo used only in the alternate universes) didn't have a SIMILAR hair style, it was IDENTICAL: They SHARED a toupee. Jack Binny (see note above) was with them in what was a shift arrangement, equal alllocations of days to suit producers' requirements and, in the busy seasons (especially in awards seasons) days would be divided for 8-hours shifts, swaps sometimes accomplished involving men's rooms, Rochester, and a football helmet. Binny of course was the proprietor, & made out handsomely (so to speak).

I believe you would have to say she was at least guilty of manslaughter. You can deduce that she was not a suspect. He fell from the balcony. It was entirely an accident. Only the blackmailer witnessed that it was otherwise. But since she did push him she was guilty of manslaughter, even if she did not anticipate that he would go over the balcony. Or she may have known she pushed him hard enough to go over but she expected him to show more resistance. But he was caught off guard and his reaction time was not spot on. It's a razor edge. Alan chose to say "I believe you." The blackmailer? Was he brain damaged from the beating he took? Did he get amnesia and leave them alone for a while until his memory came back? Was he all about money but not really wanting to destroy her. He would gladly have taken half the insurance money but never intended to turn her in if she refused. So she calls his bluff and he chooses not to turn her in? They meet again in Honolulu one month later and the blackmailer still has not gone to the police. There could have been a sequel to this. Amnesia would work quite well. But I kind of like the brain damage idea where the scumbag becomes institutionalized. He makes up stories constantly and never makes sense but occasionally has the clarity of mind to tell the story of her pushing her husband over the balcony. But everyone just thinks it's part of his insane storytelling. He dies of an embolism. A mad scientist takes his head and hooks it up to some wires... Never mind. The amnesia angle would make a better sequel!

Loved it, C! Those really were the days and that was the year I was born. Things really were all that innocent back then. Men didn't curse in front of women or children, movies were clean, people generally shared the same values in America. It was great until the 1960's when my generation chose to throw out everything our parents fought WW ll for and that they valued.

The voice of the Minister at the Funeral scene (starting at about 5:08) is the voice of Paul Frees. The voice of Paul Frees was used quite extensively in this film. He was a nice looking man. Paul Frees also once filled in for the part of Doc Adams which was otherwise played by Howard McNear on the radio version of "Gunsmoke" with William Conrad playing the original part of Marshall Matt Dillon. Howard McNear was the regular voice of Doc Adams, but on this one occasion the part was played by Paul Frees. I have it on a partial collection of the radio version of "Gunsmoke". @@georgiahorton6600 What a frustrating issue.. but wait it is more....and then u finally have the ticket...paid an arm and a leg...deal with the bull in the airport... show all ur identification, pass scanners, pass idiots checking for everything and anything so they can feel super powerful and important...and finally u are inside of the airplane...and u think "finally i made it...it is time to relax" to find it dirty, crowded, kids crying, a feet over your head rest, someone kicking your seat and rude minimal customer service...and then u need a vacation to get ride of the bitter experience in the first place...LOLOLOL I prefer to have a full vacation in home...

TY for an amusing movie! Could this embezzler be any dumber? Carrying a million in cash, he leaves it unprotected in a motel room locked in a suitcase...yup, a suitcase..one easy to pick up & carry...dumb!! But his biggest mistake was getting involved w/a strange woman while making his Run. His bad luck gets worse...his stolen money (gasp) gets stolen by a blackmailing scoundrel...AMAZING!
