All million dollar winners included from all editions in the US (Primetime, Syndicated, Super, Tournament of Ten).
Note: I made this video many years back when I was in my late teens, and have not gotten any money from the creation of this video. I make completely different videos now pertaining to the game show Jeopardy!, so if that still interests you, stick around!

*Who Wants to Be a Millionaire* - US Top prize winners: ◾ *David Chang* - Became the first top prize winner in the reboot and the first celebrity to win the million, for his charity, Southern Smoke Texas, on November 29, 2020. ◾ Sam Murray - Answered his question correctly during the Million Dollar Tournament of Ten and remained the only contestant to answer his question correctly on November 11, 2009. ◾ Robert Essig - Answered 12 questions correctly on Super Millionaire on February 23, 2004. ◾ *Nancy Christy* - Became the first only female top prize winner on May 8, 2003. ◾ Kevin Smith - First syndicated millionaire, winning the top prize on February 18, 2003. ◾ Ed Toutant - Won on September 7, 2001. Originally appeared on January 31, 2001, when the jackpot was at $1,860,000 when he was ruled out after answering his $16,000 question wrong. However, it was determined that there was an error in the question, so he was invited back and won the jackpot as it was at the time. ◾ Bernie Cullen - Won the top prize just five days after Olmstead's win on April 15, 2001. ◾ Kevin Olmstead - Won the top prize on April 10, 2001; however, because of the jackpot having been set to increase by $10,000 each episode, he won $2,180,000 - making him the biggest winner in television history at the time. ◾ David Goodman - Won on July 11, 2000. ◾ Kim Hunt - Won on July 6, 2000. ◾ Bob House - Won on June 13, 2000. ◾ Joe Trela - Won on March 23, 2000. ◾ Dan Blonsky - Won on January 18, 2000. ◾ *John Carpenter* - Became the first top prize winner in the history of the franchise on November 19, 1999.

The questions are ridiculously easy! "Where is Paddington bear from" is like the £1k question here in the UK
@meechisminners

One comment pointed out that after 2002 they needed harder questions. Plus not a lot of this info was obvious because you didn't have the internet at the point qwhere it is today. And Paddington was never a big thing here until the movie came out. I bet "what steel driving man beat a rock drilling machine in a race to make a train tunnel" would be worth more than £1k even tho most second graders here have heard at least some variation of the John Henry story

Thought the same thing. In Germany the million dollar questions are like "name all 3 billion human DNA strings by name". Never even stood a chance.

I think someone has come close once since then for sure. It was during the lone season Cedric the Entertainer was host. During a special celebrity week in 2013, Charles "Chip" Esten, best known for "Whose Line is it Anyway?" and "Nashville", got up to the million dollar question, but he chose to walk with $500,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
