I heard once that over the road truck drivers in the US who have done that job for twenty years, the life expectancy is 55. they generally have no union unless they work for one of the few companies where unions exist, but they usually are not over the road drivers. over the road means you stay in the truck for a week or more. For some people doing hard physical retirement is as low as 50, others must wait for as long as 60 for the least physical jobs. Technology means people keep living longer and longer. If you keep the retirement age stagnant, people aren't getting what they paid into the system. If you worked from 20 - 65, you may have been paying for retirees who lasted on average 7 years on the system. Yet when you retire, you might last 14 years. So you paid for 7 years, got 14. That's not simply getting what you paid into the system.

On the other hand, technology brought productivity gains which compensate that ageing of the population. Ai, certain governments can realy causes unnecessary turmoil within their countries, why in the world would they wanna make such a change, to me 60years should atleast be the maximum retirement age so that the younger generation can atleast have a much bigger chance of filling the unemployment gap facing the whole world, im quite sure these politians got special perks on their pension payouts after public service long before retirement.Most people anyway ends up with huge medical bills from 60years and onwards hardly anything left for self entertainment after 30 to 40 years of hard work.
