I didn't know blacks didn't get lice. Lucky. My now 21 year old daughter had it really bad around 10 years old. We didn't let it get this bad because we kept on doing the lice bottles treatment they have at Walmart. It just would not go away. Even after cleaning the whole house and her bed and sheets and vacuuming. Finally we ended up moving and after that she never got lice again. It went on for like five months. I do think it was our neighbors lil girl two houses down she would go play with. I had actually looked in that lil girls head once before and she had lice. I told her mom and her mom said she did treatment on her but not sure she ever did. We would do treatments in my daughter's hair like every two weeks when this was going on and the lice would all be gone and I would look a couple weeks later and it was back. This went on five or six months until we moved and we haven't seen the neighbors we lived by since. It hard to get rid of lice if u don't know where they coming from.
@ntokozosibanyoni14215 ай бұрын
@@pgrberthelot67 well in South & Central America there are lice that for some weird reason have evolved in such a way as to be able to scale down even our closely curled hair (which is why it's usually impossible for them to grab onto our hair, so they just fall off) at least so I've been told, but they are not really common. Most of em, especially in the Americas, are unable to infest an Afro. Here in Africa, never heard of a lice infestation before, & there's Asians & whites all over the place gere, especially in South Africa. You must remember that not all Africans will have exactly the same hair texture, heck our skin tones may vary as well. Anyways, becuz of my father's genes, I'm blessed with amazing hair growth rates. So if I ever had that mess on my Afro, I'd just cut it all off and regrow from the start, especially if treatment methods weren't working like with your little girl. Usually them products made for whites anyways coz lice infection is very uncommon amongst blacks. Should've just used some of it on your girls friend (if her mom was a cool person & not pumped up on ego or unfortunately, separate your kid from theirs). When all choices have been exhausted, separation is ultimately the only viable option. So you need to improve on your ability to make those judgement calls becuz I can read from this that you're a caring parent. I'm not judging you, I'm just saying even good parents aren't perfect. Anyways ciao.

Agree. In my school system (not us) it was required to use lice serum on hair for elementary school students (if I remember every 2 or 4 weeks my mom used it on me) and a child care person also came every month to check our hairs. No one had lice. If there was, it was caught in time.
@carolchildofgod14672 жыл бұрын
@@Angelaius When my girls were little & in school they had a “no nit policy.” There was also a “courtesy notification” whereby if your child had head lice, a parent was to call the school nurse out of “courtesy” and inform them so notices could be sent home to the parents of the classmates of the infested so the parents could check their kids heads at home. I have a feeling that I was the only courteous parent at the school because the 3 times my girls had head lice, I was never notified. After the 1st time I learned why. When the known previously infested child returned to school after days of treating the kids & disinfecting everything on the property, the child returned to the school nurse to be “cleared” to return. That meant the child could not have ONE MICROSCOPIC FLEA EGG on their head. Now, mind you ... imagine how tiny an amber colored flea egg could be. Not to mention how difficult to detect on the heads or in the hair of a child. My girls got my hair color, kind of a light brown with reddish blond highlights, I guess you could call it AMBER in color, and they got the thickness and length and beauty from my husbands Sicilian DNA. NOW I HAVE NO IDEA what kind of supersonic, magnified, infrared, military style night vision goggles this nurse had, but she could somehow find that lone, dead flea egg in my kids hair, so she said. I brought her all of the enclosures that came with the HIGH DOLLAR FLEA AND NIT KILLING PRODUCT I USED that said there may be an egg or two left behind, but they are DEAD! Never gonna hatch a baby flea. But no good ... they had a NO NIT POLICY and I had to repeat the process. Now I was beginning to realize WHY parents of the other children WERE so discourteous! Like everything else in life though, we got through it and lived to tell the tale with humor (sometimes). Lol. Love to all you Mom’s and Dad’s who have or have yet to battle those little demons!! Our mother neglected us as children and our hair was always similar to this. Absolutely filthy and no way for a kid to live; constantly waking up and scratching our scalps until they were red and irritated. When guardianship for us was transferred to our dad he was horrified and gave us 2 options: shave or kerosene method. Both worked out in the end so big ups dad. Definitely wouldn’t recommend the kerosene method these days though lol

Head lice is horrific in many ways. Had it so often as a child that I thought my scalp would fall off. My parents weren't actually parents so often times just showering once a week or two was scarce. Couldn't afford the actual treatment products so I was forced to try unorthodox methods. Mayo, gasoline, motor oil, vinegar, bleach, so much more but nothing worked. After protesting that I didn't want to cut my long hair for many years I had to cave and get it done to help the lice go away. My aunt set up an appointment at a salon to get it cut and informed the lady on the phone that I had lice, she said it was ok. We go for the appointment and that lady wasn't there so when the lady cutting my hair saw I had lice, she screamed bloody murder and said some horrible things to me. Making fun of me in front of everyone. It took years for me to step foot into another salon. I'm glad to see that lice isn't seen as a death trap and that women like this cosmetologist are kind and willing to help. Gives me hope for the future.

So, when the lice thing happened we all did treatments but the neighbors kept coming back and she was so upset & she said “I just wanna shave my head, I can’t take it anymore but I’m afraid everyone will make fun of me.” We told her not to care about what ppl thing or say. My kids came to me and said mom I think we are gonna go over K’s house and shave our heads with her so she’s not alone. This is child abuse. To let it get to this stage. Disgraceful.

@@aprilgosa5779 shut the f uck up actually. they didn’t bother to try anything at all. they let it get this bad. lice combs are cheap at the store. they could’ve picked them out themselves when the problem wasn’t that bad, but nooooo they’re just lazy parents that they didn’t care about this problem.

To let it get that bad is child neglect. Shame on the parents, I hope she never gets lice ever again 😭 not after that fiasco

I cleaned someone’s hair like this once it was really intense, but to know I was able to help made it worth it.

Poor kid. I’m glad she had help. I remember when I was younger I got head lice too, and it took like two months to eradicate them, even with weekly treatments, I was like 9. At that point I think a bunch of peeps in the school had them and it kept jumping around so to speak. My mom was so frustrated that she ended up cutting my hair and having to take me to a hairdresser to fix it. She kinda lost it. My hair was so fried since those shampoos where killer, glad there are better treatment options now.
