@hazel13590
@hazel13590 3 жыл бұрын
that was actually sorta incorrect. rollie pollies are more commonly land isopods (woodlice) which are crustaceans. they look almost identical to pill millipedes due to convergent evolution but the resemblance is superficial and its just because they fill an almost identical ecological niche while not being more related that both being arthropods. but since "rollie-pollie" isnt a scientific term you can gladly still say pill millipedes are rollie pollies as well :)

I feel like this video was made just for me. Millipedes are my favorite invertebrate and my dream is to own a giant African millipede as a pet. I also have celiac disease and was diagnosed at the age of seven back when finding gluten free marked foods at the supermarket was very challenging and testing for celiac was much more difficult and not often suggested by doctors at least for the symptoms I was showing. Anyway I was just really excited about the sponsor being something I advocated for (better celiac testing and awareness) sponsoring a video about one of my favorite creatures.

4:29 Wrong: there was an higher concentration of Oxygen due to the fact that there were much more forests. This led to an increased oxygen production which translates to an higher oxygen percentage, therefore partial pressure. This means that insects, which lack of an elaborate breathing methiod and simply echange their gasses with a mere diffusion process, could now grow more as consequence of the increased efficiency of this methos, brought by an higher concentration of the needed gas.

Giant millipedes called kilopedes. Smaller kilopedes called centipedes. Smaller millipedes called nanopedes. It's just math basically.

People here getting either disgusted by millipedes, or comparing them to centipedes and I'm here admiring the fluid and synchronous motion of their legs. It's like a wave of motion progressing through their bodies.
