Hey David, I had to subscribe after seeing your comments on the flimsy wiring. Hoping to find more info on upgrade if you have any videos on it. I'm now to your channel. I bought mine about 3 years ago but havent built it as yet because i had 3 other cncs in production but never got the chance to add my MegaV as a forth. I've since sold the other 3 when I sold my woodworking business but kept the MegaV for my personal use one day and that day is now.

So I am looking at getting a Mega V Full Sheet Router from Millright. I see your video is 2yr's old. Just wondering how you have liked your machine over the last 2 years & how has Millright been for customer service after the sale???

Did you take the z homing switch wire through two drag chains ? Could you not just take it down behind the gantry and take it through the left drag chain only ?
@jonescompanycustoms72084 жыл бұрын
I guess I could do that but I would really like to make use of the available protection of the drag chain! When I re wire with better cable in a few days I will just give myself enough slack to make it all the way through and out.

@@jonescompanycustoms7208 Does the Quick Start Guide - Read this to get running on the millright website apply to the mega v ? I need something of a step by step to get where you are

I'm sure that will help! I havent used the quick start guide and have just been watching the assembly video on YT. Feel free to shoot me a DM on FB or start a thread in the FB group if you're having trouble.

@@jonescompanycustoms7208 Thanks, I'm sure I'm going to need it. I am pretty computer savvy but this is the first cnc I have ever used. I saw how you checked the square of yours, if it wasn't what screws would you even loosen to try and get it more square ?
@jonescompanycustoms72084 жыл бұрын
The way the machine screws together it pretty much has to be square so the only real way to check and see is to tram your machine...just my .02

I completed my homing switches. Now I think I have to rotate 2 of the motors. The Z motor cord is coming up short.
@jonescompanycustoms72084 жыл бұрын
@@2466swat mine came up short as well. Shielded security cable is very cheap and much better than the wires that come with the homing switches!

Jones Company Customs I’m sure I didn’t. The way the wires are I’d prob replace them any how. I wonder if there is a cad file of the brackets used that I could bust them out on my 3d printer or on my little cnc router. I’m sure I could design some in a flash in fusion 360 though.
@jonescompanycustoms72084 жыл бұрын
A 3D printed bracket could work, aluminum would be better. If you need some measurements I could get you some this afternoon!

Im buying this same unit, do you think that the homing switch is a must on a unit like this?... thank you for your feedback
@jonescompanycustoms72083 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Is it absolutely necessary? Not at all. It really comes down to preference. At the end of the day the machine only goes where you tell it to go so if you aren't anywhere near your limits you will be fine. With that being said I have miscalculated before and ran the machine past its limit when not using the switches and it makes a terrible noise and sounds like the machine is destroying itself but it's never actually broken anything. Not saying it wouldn't eventually but switches will definitely help prevent this from being an issue.
@shelby504114 жыл бұрын
That machine is beautiful snd well made unlike all the other junk like the xcarve and bobcnc and shapeoko..that use rubber band belts...at under 1900$ for this size build there is nothing that can come even close to matching this machine in quality or capsbility ..as of today.....lol rock solid...i dont think xcarve knows what rock solid means lol...fyi i think your complaining is uncalled for...millright mega v is such a deal ...it should be 2500-3000$ machine.
@jonescompanycustoms72084 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! The Mega V is a great deal indeed, and far superior to the other machines in its class and price point. This is the XL 35x35 model so out the door the machine was close to $2500 plus the JTech laser which put it just a few dollars over 3k for the whole thing shipped. Very fair price for something built to this standard, however I still think they could have used better wire but it's not the end of the world.
@dividingbyzerofpv67484 жыл бұрын
They need an upgrade to allen cap head screws grade 8 or better. The screw quality is a weak point.

I am really disappointed in the flimsy wiring of the $40 homing switch too. The wires are just too short as the video describes ... I am right there right now. Grrr. Not $40 worth of accessories here. flimsy. Rest of the machine seems solid.
@jonescompanycustoms72084 жыл бұрын
Totally agree! The good thing is that better wire is cheap and readily available at home improvement stores. Go ahead and leave your current wires in the drag chain because I'm going to do a video on how to easily swap out the old wire for new wire here soon. The flimsy homing wires has been my only legitimate criticism so far and besides that I have been very happy with my Mega V!
