Hey Rick! We are in upstate South Carolina and spend a lot of time watching your videos as they are in areas we’ve been to or want to explore. After watching this one, we hopped in the truck and went up to Mills River the very next day! We really enjoyed finding your campsite (still no bear in the box)! Watching the video and then exploring the area added an extra layer of fun to our adventure. Maybe we will run into you someday! 😊 Randy & Kathy ~ Trippin in the 60’s

Love that area, thanks for the shot of Looking Glass Falls. It was all too brief. Have visited there twice. Camping is nice in that area but it can be buggy. Please give Akela a pat for me.

I like that area, but even in a normal year it is crowded and these days with COVID and government subs and "Working" from home it was packed, even at 7am when we were there. Families with kids and grandparents. I try to keep them out of the video it I don't have their permission. Hopefully the forests will return to a level of quiet reflection soon!
@joycefranklin89812 жыл бұрын
@@GoingNoWhereFast I agree, the woods should be a quiet place. Have loved to spend my time there since I was a little girl, always was a little bit of a loner. Looking Glass Falls was busy when I was last there even though it was many years ago. I also had trouble getting pictures without people in them. Give Akela a pat for me. Stay safe.

I know, right? And not only that, but poodles in heat!?!? Akela was happy to see them, until I yanked him away!! What kind of idiot let their in heat female run loose in the campground. I guess someone who thinks they are the only ones in the campground with a dog.

Love your Vids. My wife and i travel to NC once or twice a year ((no camping yet for her) she's scared of bears and people) One day we'll get an Aliner and she will come with me.

The people are the friendliest people I have met so far in my life, the bears are not so friendly, but they try to stay as far away as possible. Thanks for the comment, and Next year I expect there will be a lot of Aliners for sale!

@@GoingNoWhereFast I know. She's just not trust worthy she listens to too many Murder Podcasts. Which definitely doesn't help. What's going on next year for Aliner? I'm going to be looking late next year and 2023 for one. Ideally one with a built in shower /toilet LXE model. Any tips or suggestions for purchasing will help
@GoingNoWhereFast3 жыл бұрын
@@Scahla I just see so many people who bought during the pandemic and have no clue what they were getting into, they will be selling them after this season! I don't really like the Shower models (LXE) It puts so much moisture into the unit, and moisture / humidity is a major issue even with just one person and no bathroom. Some of the old timers in the Aliners Club have them and love them, but they are dedicated aliner owners.

@@GoingNoWhereFast great tip. Do you know any resources to find them used? I have to have 3 expectations for my wife. "needs to have a bathroom, a shower, hard walls with a locking door"

Watch the Aliner Owners club website, they have a used trailer classified, otherwise, Facebook marketplace. Look closley at the Rpods too... they have your requirements

Always look forward to you showing us around the campground/campsite's you visit. I have yet to camp at the Pisgah NF but plan to sometime. I tried videography one time with my GoPro to do what you do and failed miserably. So I know you have to be dedicated to that aspect of not just camping but 'showing' people around where you visit. thanks for all you do. It's really appreciated. Akela is definately inviting you to join him in the stream! I could hear him shouting from the water! :) Ha! No bear in the box?? that happened to me a few times too!

This campground has all the beautiful stuff! North Carolina sure has a lot of wonderful campgrounds. Looks like camping heaven from your videos. Is it true that some of the national (and maybe other) parks don’t allow “canvas” camping if bears are frequent visitors? Is it safe as long as you “lock up” food and garbage in a Bear Box? I bought the A-liner in case I get the opportunity to visit some of the restricted areas. Did I misunderstand? Keep your camera ready (and bear spray) in case you get your wish about that cuddly “stuffed” bear popping out of the box.
@GoingNoWhereFast3 жыл бұрын
The National Parks with Grizzly bear activity require hard sided Sleeping systems. I think they will let you sleep in your car. But there are only 5 or 8 parks with that restriction. Out all the millions of people who camp and generally 50% are not very careful with food, only one every 3 years has a bad bear experience. So its pretty safe, and not something I ever worry about. I have bear spray, but more for people than bears. (It also works on skunks)

Looks like a great place to get away. Nice water fall. Could you swim near it? Thanks for the vid!
@GoingNoWhereFast3 жыл бұрын
It would not be advisable, its a heavily trafficked area...
@solonutiket5643 жыл бұрын
Does your web site have maps of the campsites you visit with dimensions of the camp sites? That would take a lot of guessing out of visiting them. I saw where you camped near Hampton, TN, did you hike to Laurel Falls? beautiful place and there are several "off the trail" adventures, one for winter to eliminate snakes, and one for the summer for swimming only in July and Aug. There is a hostel nearby with some RV sites
@GoingNoWhereFast3 жыл бұрын
The Reservation sites are now listing the length of the sites, and I'm hoping my videos give you a sense of the width, but having to measure and post the size of every site would be way more than I am capable of these days. And Thanks for the suggestions for great places in the future. I will definitely add them to the list for future trips. I have hiked to many of the falls in this area. But I don't remember which ones by name. They are all fantastic.. time a return trip or two!
