Think Millwall deserved the win thanks to a very solid defense that we just couldn't break down. Hopefully with new additions and players coming back from injury we can build a strong defense ourselves and start getting a few clean sheets on the road. Boys up front looked a bit clueless and off the boil last night. Millwall looked like they would happily nod balls out of their area all night long, yet we kept pumping in those high balls in from set pieces. Room for improvement. Great video Tom and some intelligent writing for the BBC too; well done indeed !! PUP 💙💙💙

It was a frustrating night for Pompey but credit to Millwall who were very good defensively and snuffed out any threat's Pompey have. Also once they scored it was always going to be a hard game if it wasn't already. Another great video Tom and always great to hear from Dan as he makes an ideal wing man to your good self. As an Australian living in Portsmouth for 10 years I'm absolutely loving the club's recruitment policy. Waddingham and Matthews are fabulous young players and will serve Pompey well. @PompeyDave-w6mКүн бұрын
Well, that could have gone better. Millwall defended very well and matched us for effort, they got the goal in an evenly matched game. Pompey worked hard but couldn't get a clear cut chance. I suppose trying to be positive Matthews looks a decent player and it's the game in hand and we've only lost one goal so the league position hasn't changed, but we do need a big lift on Saturday. Thanks for the video Tom.

Resting the better players at the Albion in the hope that you will get the two home wins when you bring them back is always a gamble. Albion under Corbaran started games with a weakened team and ended up having to bring on the better players when we were losing. I still think it is better to play your best side every game from the off and replace tired legs as the game goes on. Hope you win your next home game as I have a lot of time for Pompey fans. They were great at Albion last weekend. COYB

Anyone who has attended both Millwall home games (the league cup in August) will possibly have noticed they scored their goals against us in exactly the same manner. I wonder if the coaching staff had looked at the video from earlier in the season? Yes there was “weakened” teams fielded in August but the tactics were very identical. Personally I feel it was at least a point dropped from the game last night.

Murphy and Ogilvie played great lastnight (My x2 men of the match) Bishop , as much as i love his work rate and passion (and want him in the team)....he is not an out and out striker....he is often not there in the box where we need him to be...he needs to drop to midfield while we find a new No.9....just my opinion 🤷♂ Nervously on to the next match😬 G in the South of France

Good and, as always a balanced and fair report. Watched the game from Row CC in the South Stand and you could really see how well drilled the Millwall defence were. Pompey much much better down the left and thought Murphy was really really strong. Just need to sharpen up the finishing; on another day we could have nicked a goal.

Another Millwall fan here, great video 👍 To be fair many of the assessments here are pretty accurate, pompy needed to score the first goal in this one, with 9 first team players out injured we were never going to press or be open for long periods and were always going to sit deep and nick something. It’s difficult to see where the pompy players went wrong aside from the one mistake that led to the goal.

We need more decent wingers badly. With Paddy Lane out of action and our position in this division at risk we really need players that can make an impact other than Lang and Murphy. We need to have a plan B. Michael Eisner please dip that hand in your pocket and rescue us from relegation this season. You know this club means something to me you know this club is everything to me, we continue to fight we never quit. We lose but we never quit. We never quit

We had plenty of the ball but were poor in front of goal - poor crosses and no real threat to their excellent reserve goal keeper. Millwall managed the game very well with excellent defending whilst we were ‘huffin and puffin’ and didn’t look cohesive as a team. Could and should have lost 0-2. I’m really not expecting us to stay up and not blaming JM completely albeit he does seem to struggle at this level. Forgot to mention, 5 changes to the weekend game was a poor decision! I get resting players but resting 5 players after a win was dumb. That result affected our poor performance this evening. Moral to me seemed low. Hey ho - Play Up Pompey

Our upcoming games are against considerably better teams (Burnley, Sheffield united, Leeds, Cardiff, Oxford, QPR, blackburn) and now we can't even beat Millwall at home (they've had a shocking few months), how are we expected to beat these better teams, it's relegation for us
@paulvinten7672Күн бұрын
Tough result to take that, looked like we did well up till the final cross or shot, without ever truly testing their keeper The chap that said that goal came from a sloppy pass up top was spot on, and if theres one thing we can’t handle it’s a quick counter attack, which is what did us. A team battling to stay up losing against a mid table team that’s probably below their true position isn’t the end of the world on its own, but in the context of the season that’s a tough one. Other games now become must wins, and I don’t see that starting on Saturday. We need to start picking up points on the road. I maintain there was something for us on Saturday until we gifted them the points. Still think we have got enough in us to stay up, but we need to start picking up points on the road

Unfortunately, sometimes games in hand mean nothing at all. Still there are positives to take. The three teams below all look to be on a worse run, and both Plymouth and Derby still have to play at FP. It's Luton that worries me. Due to the parachute payments they should have the possibility to strengthen heavily in the last days of the transfer window, but will Pompey?

We wouldnt have scored if we'd played til midnight.!! A stuffy Millwall side were able to stop us producing anything of quality. And for all his runs down the wing, Murphy produced nothing....except losing the ball which led to Millwall's goal. If Mousinho is honest about stopping Pompey from relegation then he had better start proving it.!!! Transfers in so far, two English players...neither of them with any game time this season...and two young Australians, who have absolutely NO experience of English football. Where are the EXPERIENCED Pro's who can cope with Championship football??? It seems that Mr Mousinho is following orders and buying in young talent with a view to management "selling them on" at a later stage for profit. And as I said last week, if you keep changing the team after EVERY game you will NOT build any sort of cohesion or team building. I am getting the impression that Mr Mousinho does NOT have the experience or nous to be in charge of a Championship side. He is, however putting together quite strong contenders to win the Div 1 title again next season. I just cant see a miracle on Saturday. Just remember what happened to Plymouth.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Whacka82Күн бұрын
If Pack continues to be in the side from now I can no longer support Mous as he's cost us far too many games & was at fault for the goal, losing his heading bolting out of defence & trying to win a ball leaving his defense partner exposed when he should of held his position. Then with 6 mins left tries to take on the midfield & loes the ball & the pressure we'd built allowing them to run the clock down. He's not good enough for this league & doesn't have a footballing brain to be a defender

Can't rely on home form, the catalogue of away disasters is the real problem. Mousinho can't manage at this level and should have been replaced a couple of months ago. The Eisners don't want success on the pitch and need to sell up and go. The ultimate blame lies with them. Burnley and Sheffield United next. That's 2 massive sloppy defeats which will see a minimum of 10 goals conceded and none scored. League 1 for at least 10 years unless massive changes happen. It was better in administration. At least we had some effort and some excitement, we even got to an FA cup final! The Eisners have managed to somehow make things worse on the football side of things.
