People need to relax about Chiesa imo. Yes it's frustrating for everyone but it's very early days. It was an opportunistic bargain signing & we didn't even need him. He's got some niggles, which is more annoying than worrying at this stage imo. The medical team are obviously taking their time to get him fit & not rushing him which is the right thing to do as he had no pre-season to speak of. He'll be a great impact sub soon enough imo.

It was only six months ago alot of people, including folks on fan channels that were saying Curtis Jones was not good enough for Liverpool, Gravenberch was very average, Diaz was not that good and could be sent off to Real Madrid and Konate had fallen off and needed replacing. Also, dont get me started on Joe Gomez. After Thiago and Keita fans have no patience for injured players.

With regards to Ciesa injury. My kid (who plays for our u17 national team just did an ACL and had knee reconstruction. It’s a horrific program to get back to full fitness. The whole leg needs rehabilitation and then the body needs to be balanced. Rugby players get back to full fitness easier than footballers because they run soo much less. It’s the running twisting and turning that is the issue especially for elite attacking players that rely on that burst of pace and stopping quickly and turning quickly. A defender like VVD will be able to recover easier. If we can rehab Ciesa he will be good.

There’s something special about a home grown player developing and coming through the ranks. He earns a special respect from the fans. Kelleher is one of those. Any premiership club can spend x millions on a player. There’s nothing too interesting or innovative about that. I would always favour a player that has come the club, will be disappointed if Kelleher is let go (as looks the plan) in favour of a similar level keeper (the Georgian).

For me you play players when they are ‘hot’ and kelleher is definitely that. You basically play him until his form drops then play Alison until his form drops etc

Slot said in his interview very clearly when asked about kellerher being in good form and will Alison get back in the answer was Alison is the number 1 keeper when he is fit he plays, slot is very very clear about that and I agree.

Keepers have a well defined number 1 and 2 much more than outfield players though. And I think it's important to do that. Confidence is huge, and I think even more so for keepers as they are the absolute last line of defence. I don't think chopping and changing every time they make a couple of mistakes or have a bad game or two is good for anyone. And Alisson's performances haven't dropped off, he's just injured. He hasn't done anything to warrant losing his number 1 position, so he should be straight back in when he's fit.

Mamard is Allisson's replacement. What he provides (over Kelleher) is the commanding presence on crosses. No problem keeping Caoimhín, but the Georgian is an upgrade....and selling Kelleher for £20m gives FSG even more money not to spend 🙂

There is an argument that Kelleher deserves to start over Alisson, since Alisson is always injured for half the season now. So if the new keeper comes he will probably be No1.

There isnt. Ali is top 2/3 Gk:s itw. And that won’t change unless he gets a season ender. Kelleher is very good, but its a whole different beast to keep a no1 shirt vs being the the stand in. Alison should and will always start if he isnt injured, and there is nothing Kelleher can do to change that because he just isnt as good.

This is going to be a contentious comment but hear me out. I believe Allisson is the best keeper in the world. But, say we get 3 seasons of him playing half a season, one option instead would be to make Kelleher No1 given we'd get 10 years out of him (and not lose him). It's hard to find a keeper as good as kelleher (certainly one you don't have to pay for) and the big Georgian though a talent is still unproven in the Prem.

Kelleher should has earned being the next number 1. Never should have bought a keeper. Plus Allison should be kept. Ben Doak needs to score. Dribbling i love. Not enough to play in the front line at any top team in the top leagues. Dribbles into the box is not the standard for a wide Saka, Rashord, Vini, Mbappe, Diaz, Salah. Whatever. it's NOT enough. I like his potential though.
