Hiking Half Dome, Yosemite National Park, USA [Amazing Places 4K]

Long day hike to the top of Half Dome, Yosemite National Park, with outstanding views of Vernal and Nevada Falls, Half Dome, Yosemite Valley and the High Sierra.
The trail is 14 mi/22.4 km long (round trip, via Vernal and Nevada Falls), elevation gain 4800 ft/1475 m. Two metal cables allow hikers to climb the last 400 feet to the summit.
Recorded June 2015 in 4K (Ultra HD) with Sony AX100. Edited with Adobe Premiere Pro CC.

My dad died a few months ago and his funeral was yesterday. I just sobbed watching this. We went to Yosemite every year when I was a kid. I've hiked Half Dome twice and it's such a spiritual experience. I'm so grateful my dad introduced me to nature at an early age, thank you for posting

Thank you for sharing. I took my son there a couple of years ago. We’ve done Angle’s, Longs the Rae Loop, the HST et cetera. Great memories I hope he’ll cherish for the rest of his life. It sounds like you will… not sure if you have a family but perhaps someday you will take your son or daughter up the cables as well.

Just finished a trip to Yosemite. The Half Doom hike is certainly beyond my physical ability. Therefore I have more "respect" for all these brave souls who are able to finish the hike and be rewarded with the spectacular view.

I did this years ago with a friend and we did it in 2 days camping above the falls and doing Half Dome the next day. Catching the spray by the falls is a nice cool off.

I have hiked the Half Dome Trail twice, climbed El Capitan, The Rostrum, Royal Arches, etc. I haven't been to Yosemite in years and miss it so bad. This video was super well done and made me feel like I was there again!!! Excellent Job!!!

Hike the summit last summer in late September! Loved the challenge. Wanted to train for it and hike it again this coming up summer in 2020 but just heard they announced the park closed because of the virus. I'll be trained and ready regardless. Hope the park opens back up! The cable section was one of the biggest adrenaline rushes ever! So windy, but I loved it!

You need spend night. They may be reservations now. First time I went to top of half dome Age 12 with siblings 10 and 7 With guide. We climb over 2/3 the way. Then cables Used trail on way down. I want to go on that hike again The sky must be so clear there now. Like being on another planet You don't want to leave.

I hiked this with my 19 year old son. I am 59 so this was an exciting trip. We hiked it in 8 hours round trip. It was a wonderful experience!!!

I did this climb in 1979 with a best girlfriend. From a safe vantage point, we watched a bear tear up a guy's red backpack to get at the food inside it. He'd left it unattended by the small river you cross on the hike up to Half Dome. The view from on top was so insane. Thank you for this beautiful video.

I did it three times (but in two days, not one). The last time i 2004 when I was 65 years old. Each was an unforgettable experience. And now at 76 I can only do shorter hikes because of a bad ankle. But I have my memories and lots of amazing photos.

My first trip to Half Dome was in the Spring of 1972. My friend and I had it all to ourselves. We didn't run into anybody else on the way up, on top, or on the way down. Too bad it's become such a tourist attraction.

I slept on half dome overnight as a teenager with my brother and two of his friends... Had a sleeping bag but no pillow.... Thankfully someone had piled large stones in circles that we used to shelter from the wind.. They even left a nice "pillow rock" I used... Good times With Paul, Pat And Raphael. Hardest but best parts of the hike which we started from the valley was what we called little Italy, the seemingly endless rocky switchbacks just before the cable climb, and the last part, Cable climb to the top! We were dying for sure but it is a memory of a lifetime! Amazing views looking off down to the valley below. Flashing the light to the valley below signalling my brothers girlfriend that we made it! Makes me want to bring my motorcycle there this Summer and ride into the valley, maybe camp at sunnyside...

Back in the 60's and 70's, I climbed it six times with different members of my family, the last time in 1980 with my wife and two sons. I was 40 at the time. The rock on top jutting out is known as the 'Diving Board' and is still there. I have a photo of myself sitting on it with my legs dangling out into space. Nice to see it is still there because I always felt a little queasy sitting on it with 5000' of air below me.

Spectacular video! Yes condolences Mason. You were very fortunate to have your father intro you to a place as amazing as Yosemite at a young age. I made it there when i was 14 and did a week or maybe it was a ten day course called the Yosemite Institute. Park Rangers taking us on hikes and teaching us about the mountain ecology. After that i was hooked. Made countless backpacking trips all over the Sierras and returned to Yosemite whenever possible. Some 50 years later Yosemite is my favorite place on earth.
