@@kmed92 Actually the fourth Ammendment comes Right out of English Common law. The idea of improper searches by the crown leading up to the cider act if I recall. The King's Writs of Assistance empowered customs officers to "break open and enter houses, without the authority of a civil magistrate, founded on legal information."' 4 This type of power cut against the grain of historical limits on searches and seizures. 15 William Pitt's proclamation in the House of Commons in 1763 evidences that the English valued the sanctity of the home: scholarship.richmond.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?referer=www.google.com/&httpsredir=1&article=1944&context=lawreview p. 545

@@Audit-The-Auditors I guess the idea is he thinks there is a law against generally filming in public. There isn't and you may do if if you so wish. It is a case of a false negative rather than a false positive. The guy thinks there is a law AGAINST filming when there isnt. You however want him to produce a law for filming. Althoug it is a grey distinction, This is one of the general differences between common and civil/codified law countries. In the UK or Ireland for example you can do what you want unless there is a law forbidding it. In Europe they might do things because the law says you have to. On the other hand civil laws might force you to do things common law makes you free to ignore. For example in the UK if someone is drowning you are under no legal obligation to help them but in France the law says you have a duty to rescue them. In common law systems, it is rarely formalised in statutes which would bring the penalty of law down upon those who fail to rescue. Many civil law systems, which are common in Continental Europe, Latin America and much of Africa, impose a far more extensive duty to rescue

On the whole, UK law doesn't prevent photography in public places. The UK has relatively liberal laws regarding photography compared with many countries. Although there are some exceptions, the key principle is that you can photograph people and buildings without needing permission, providing you are in a public place.

That is not the issue. You'll find that the foyer whilst publicly accessible may not be public land. (For the avoidance of doubt you still have no expectation of privacy on publicly accessible private land). I suspect that in this case AB had his implied permission to be on the land removed by the landlord's agent - after that it's game over. AB wins some & he loses some. In this case he lost. As more organisations realise what is & isn't legal then you will see a much more professional service from them. However it may also result in those said organisations enforcing their rights more effectively.
