I was 12 in 1992 living in MK. Later on I went to work at The Point in the cinema when I was late teen/early 20s. Loved it. It really does feel like another dimension looking back through a video like this. People walking around looking up for a start!! Now it’s all heads down on phones. Or arms up on phones filming. I remember hearing about the World Wide Web for the first time and what I imagined it was was absolutely nothing like it is 🤣 it’s the complete innocence of not knowing what was to come….Nostalgia is a doozy of an emotion!!!
@TimeEmotion1971
@TimeEmotion1971 4 ай бұрын
Yep I know how that feels nostalgia - I worked in The Point in 1995 and like your self looking back things were different, it was like a whole different world was it better ? in some ways yeah.

I was told to limit how much TV I watched or how much time to spend on my computer but even if I hadn't and spent as much time as I could on then it still wouldn't match the average use for people on their phones these days.

@@TimeEmotion1971 yeah I think in some ways it was better - I was younger for a start 🤣 so hadn’t made as many mistakes yet 😅 I do think people were better off looking up and out at the world and each other rather than down at phones and inwards. But equally tech connects people and offers people opportunities they might not have had or to learn and seen things they might now have known about so for some people it vastly improved their ability to access others and the world….so swings and roundabouts I guess. But the organic human soul has been altered - and I don’t think that will ever be returned . I don’t think that is good or better.
@Gambit771

@@lucylocketsthinkingpocket There are definitely good users for tech, especially mobile phones. Very handy features but I think the public at large hasn't yet found the sweet spot for using your phone when needed when out and about.

Yes, to be a white British person is very much a minority in this city these days. Spend 30 minutes at the shopping centre or Willen Lake and you'll see what I mean...

The old planters in the shopping centre were so much better - unlimited dad seating (waiting for mum to come out of the shop). The planting was actually well-designed and themed from tropical to desert biomes, and it lasted for decades.
