Milwaukee Fuel M18 1/4" Impact Driver
Driver fell while being used on a ladder.
Now it is intermittent...can it be fixed?
I have no idea, I own the standard M18 tools,
and have never used or seen the inside of a Fuel.
No manual, no guts, no glory...
Rule #1 - Don't be afraid to try new things (like disassembling $200 tools LOL)
Rule #2 - Always try to fix before tossing
Rule #3 - Always be prepared - buy all tools known to mankind

Ireland is a wonderful country. I visited in the 80's and had great fun. I climbed the Mourne mountains, saw both northern and southern Ireland. The people are EXTREMELY nice! Since it is broken, you have nothing to lose by carefully opening it up and seeing if there is a broken wire, solder connection or some other obvious problem. Good luck with it, they are good tools!

Hi Ramiro Santiago! Thanks for watching the video. If it does not work at all, then you have nothing to lose by taking it apart and seeing if one of the connections is broken off. It may be corrosion on the blades that slide into the battery. I assume you checked with a different fully charged battery? Good luck with the repair, if you find the problem, post it here so others can fix their problems.

I did the same thing and found wires making contact with a part they shouldn’t. It’s still my main impact to this day. Refused to throw it out.

I think you should have kept the drill and told him it was an unsuccessful repair. Watching you unscrew all of those screws by hand took me back to the old days. I don't think I would have even attempted disassembly without my DeWALT DCF682 electric screwdriver. It has gyroscopic control meaning you determine the rotation direction by moving your wrist the way you want to go. I paid $25 for mine off eBay which is relatively inexpensive I highly recommend it.

My M-18 2767-20 was partially submerged when my truck flooded. Do you have any idea what I can do. You think replacing the mothers would fix it? It’s not even a month old.

Hi Amy, wow, that is horrible! Water does some pretty nasty damage to electronics. I would open the case, dry everything out with a hair dryer, oil all steel mechanical parts, and carefully clean any electronic connections with isopropyl alcohol then reassemble. You may get lucky a lot of the electronics are potted in epoxy, but the connections and motor windings may be damaged - good luck and thanks for watching!

Hello. My impact M12 only works if you remove and install the battery or change the screw speed. How do I fix it?

Hello, thank you for watching my video! These tools go through a lot. They are being used in all sorts of weather and conditions. They occasionally get dropped. I would clear an area of your workbench so you can keep track of the parts. Remove the screws holding the plastic housing together. Carefully inspect all the connections and resolder as required. You may see something obvious, if not, resolder everything. Hopefully it is not the module that is potted in epoxy. Good luck with the repair - sometimes we get lucky and save an expensive tool!

Hi Cajo, if I recall, the motor control was a potted (a term they use to keep the electronics safe, water tight, and secret). The trouble with that, is the electronics are impossible to work on. It may be time to replace the driver.

A friend gives you broken stuff? That's not much of a friend. A good friend would give you a brand new working tool. THAT'S a friend, not someone called "friend" that gives you what would otherwise be destined for the trash. I have a friend. He gave me a brand new, working, Ridgid Drill and Impact Driver combo kit which also came with 2 5amp batteries, charger, and a carrying case. I call that friend a "friend." People who give me junk, I just call them "people," not "friend." Wait, you mistook 9 screws for 7? Now I understand. Neither you nor your friend are top of the heap skills-wise, intelligence-wise, empathetic-wise, education-wise, common sense-wise, nor in thoughtfulness. I guess somebody has to fill those parking lot attendant jobs.

@yoska222 Yeah, okay. Thanks for the clarity. I was thinking handing off broken tools sounds more like being a dumping ground. I had a friend, since passed away, give me a Rigid cordless drill & driver set with case, charger, and 2 5 amp batteries brand new in sealed box. THAT’S what I call a friend. Cheers, and keep on wrenching!

Could be. Sometimes I ramble. Sometimes I go over people's heads. Frequently sentences will be missing words or constructed poorly. My eyes are pretty bad these days & I can't really read what I type very well. My opinions are generally pretty spot on though, so that's generally good. Cheers!
