A march through downtown Milwaukee Thursday called for justice for Samuel Sharpe and D’Vontaye Mitchell, two Black men killed before and during the Republican National Convention amid a massive security buildup. Sharpe was a 43-year-old unhoused Black man who was shot dead by police officers from Ohio who were in Wisconsin as part of a group of 4,500 law enforcement officials in Milwaukee for the RNC. The shooting took place a mile from the RNC’s proceedings. Weeks earlier, security guards at the Hyatt Regency Hotel killed D’Vontaye Mitchell, a 43-year-old Black father who died after security guards pinned him to the ground. Democracy Now! was at the protest, and we feature the voices of grieving family members who spoke out.

The Hyatt Regency hotel in Milwaukee has always been a horrible place. There have been several su!cides, and when I worked there years ago, the security guards used to throw water on homeless people in the middle of winter when they tried to warm themselves on the outside vents. Just research the number of people who have taken their lives in this place. I truly believe this hotel is haunted.

They have the rogue officer in jail. Why are they protesting? Where are the marches when black men deliberately ambush innocent police officers? Everytime one black person is unalived, there are marches. It doesn't matter if they are criminals. I agree this woman shouldn't have lost her life. This officer is not a true one because he took an oath to serve and protect. I hope the protestors don't start looting and burning like they usually do. I believe this officer will be found guilty and rightly so. The video tells the truth.

What constitutes looking into the situation, studying the actually videos minus the commentary trying to tell you what they want you to see. DN own video cuts out, deliberately, they don't want you to see things in the video that would lead to a different conclusion. First, silence the news media commentary and watch the videos without sound, then with sound only the police officers. Next study the 6 or so other videos in the same way. Regardless of what somebody else, news media types, say what happened, the videos paint a different story. The media, DN included, wants to program you to believe something else happened, other than what is seen on the videos.

Many of us fo not vote, do not read newspapers, do not know anything about the people that other people elect.
