Where do I get one of these steamers? Hello across the Great Lakes. 😊

We also do ice dam removal with pressure washers. The gun allows you to adjust the amount of pressure you are using. For the most part it is always very low pressure and we have never caused any damage. Feels like you are either being a little dishonest or are just not very informed about pressure washing equipment.

peacemaker2048 what temperature does your pressure washer run? If you run with a trigger gun on a hot pressure washer when you let off trigger the burner should turn off dropping the water temp. Steamers and powerwashers are two different machines. Steaming is very technical. If you charge per hour and can’t remove the ice quickly without damage to the roof it’s not a good practice. I’m interested to chat with you more on this topic. Ice dam steaming was started over 60 years ago in MN but is almost foreign to other states.

Also if you adjust the water pressure at the gun you affect the temperature so how do you control the temp that way? In my opinion the temperature and pressure need to be a constant the entire time.

@@IceDamRemoval-SoftWashing the machine runs between 200 - 220. The water runs through a deisal heater unit that is seperate from the pressure washer. When you let of the trigger the water in the hose cools a bit, But it only takes about 5 seconds on the trigger for it to heat back up. From what I have seen in the ice dam removal videos on youtube I would say our time is maybe slightly slower than the steam system but only by about 10 percent. Thanks for your reply.

By the way I do feel like the steak system is superior. It just seems like in many of the videos I have seen hot pressure washer are discouraged, and if you cant adjust the pressure I agree.

peacemaker2048 you are welcome and it seems you are understanding your equipment which is good. However the temps are not really hot enough and the danger comes from allowing burner to turn off. If you get back down on the shingles with water and not steam even at 200 psi if it’s water there will be damage. So remaining in the high temps like 275-300deg F the entire time is important. Absolute minimum temp for steaming ice dams is 250deg F and that is a standard all ice dam companies agree upon. The hotter the better because the steam becomes drier and even farther from having any abrasiveness like water. Also “not saying you would do this” but if someone let’s off the trigger machine then cools the water and “traps” pressure if you are down on shingles and squeeze the trigger the pressure burst combined with the “water” not steam can easily cause damage. Feel free to call me if you’d like. Thx peacemaker2048 it’s mostly about temperature which makes them abrasive- 220 degrees F is not enough and 1000 psi is way to much especially if it’s “hot water” and not steam.
