Amy Wang fought hard, and deserved to take that 4th set. So Mima goes from a deserved third place 3 and a half years ago, to not even getting out of the first round group. A sad reflection of her current level.

With lightweight balls, the playing style of Mima Ito (smashing-countering shots rely mostly in physical lightening fast reaction) is outdated. Mima Ito is truely nightmare for all world top class players only when use HEAVYWEIGHT BALLS in bored table tennis of heavyweight balls. You know that if use the stupid old heavyweight balls Nittaku, then no any players can have enough lightening fast physical reaction to return smashing balls from Mima Ito, and Amy Wang could have no any chances against Mima Ito, but matches are wins for Mima Ito while matches are total losses for all (audience, sponsor, enthusiasists,eb general table tennis players and fans) because of bored matches with very short rallies. In this tournament, they do not use stupid heavyweight balls. Mima Ito becomes very regular player , except that she will modify her playing style. You see that Amy Wang can easily fast enough react to return so many smashing balls from Mima Ito. You know that if use stupid old heavyweight balls Nittaku, then Amy Wang could not successfully react to return smashing balls from Mima Ito.

1. Amy Wang truly is the best American born player ever. She has proven herself to be worthy of this world class level competition. Expect to see her keep going up in world ranking. 2. No one can take anything away from Mima Ito. She is the only one to legitimately challenge the Chinese dominance, and had to withstand all the pressure that come with it. She is having a bit of slump, let her rest a year or two, she will come back strong.
