With what you said about them hiding in plain sight is so accurate. Im a lesbian and closested. My family does not know im gay and when I was dating my girlfriend we wouldn't hide our relationship from them but just make it seem very nonchalant. I didn't want to be completely dishonest with them and honestly my parents never found out and still think im straight. I see parallels between me and my girlfriend and how we act and how jikook are with eachother. I never realized that until watching this. Very good! You finally got the truth! And the truth is, Jungkook at that early teenage age when he realized he liked boys was pretty confused. And then for a while he avoided Jimin and became friends with Tae - he was a safe friend because Jungkook didn't have feelings for him. Then the tekuker fallacy appeared. When Jungkook already accepted that he was different, that he liked boys, he quite aggressively returned to Jimin and began to show him in every way that he had feelings for him. I won't forget - there was a clip where Jungkook directly told Jimin that he wanted to be his boyfriend in the future.They are grown men now, they know how dangerous their relationship is to their careers, but they continue to look at each other with those fiery, loving eyes, as in the beginning. Regarding the “what else do you desire” part, I saw a Korean speaker (who ships them) clarify some of that up. But moreover, drinking Alcohol holds an important part in South Korean culture, it s totally normal and absolutely not shocking (and we see from vlives to bv how they easily get a drink or glorify alcohol even tho they know a part of their fan base is really young, but it doesn t shock them to do so because alcohol isn t seen as unhealthy as it is in other culture) my point is, if jk was talking about alcohol he would not have been all sneaky about it and hobi and Jimin definitely not shocked or in disbelief (or uncomfortable) with jk implying he could have (legally) a drink. Jk demeanor and jihope reactions indicate that it s not about alcohol.

I am not intentionally advocating for them to stay in the closet... but also maybe a little I am 🙈😂😂... I think they are so much safer if they do. The protective bubble of KPop around them is very strong right now! It allows (& excuses) so many things that otherwise would have to be hidden. I’ve noticed that South Korea (generally speaking) is a country w very little PDA. Honestly I think the guise of friendship & brotherhood allows them to be so much more comfortable than they could ever be if they were actually out. My fear is if they were able to come out, then everything immediately gets thrown into question! Every lyric, every smile, every touch! How exhausting that would be! They (as human beings & artists) are so much more than their relationship... I would hate to see that for them. I had a thought recently- Some people create change loudly, like the front of a tank! Rosa Parks for instance. They’re very visible. They are demanding change & want it quickly. They often achieve great change but at such a high cost! Then there are people that bring about change slowly & silently, like a ninja! So cleverly that many don’t even recognize change is taking place! By the time you do notice the change, it’s already happened! This is how I perceive Jikook & their impact on LGBTQ rights/attitudes in SK. They are not trying to walk the front of the Pride Parade in SK, yet I believe they are slowly changing the hearts & minds of the people in their country. For me personally, I would hate for them to take the abuse & damage that they would have to endure to force quick change, unless that’s a choice THEY choose for themselves!!! As for now, I believe they are out with work and their friends/families... they appear to have found a safe place to exist. As far as what they choose to tell the rest of the world, my biggest wish is that it always stays in THEIR terms! 💜💜 much love!

Well for me the reason I chose to focus more on Jungkook during these parts was because around this time people believed Jungkook hated Jimin. I wanted to show that that was never true and that he never hated him. Another reason is Jungkook is like an open book in terms of their relationship. He’s not as good at hiding how he feels like Jimin. During their early years it was quite obvious Jimin had feelings for Jungkook he was always trying so hard to befriend him but Jungkook was too shy and from the outside looking in a lot of people begin to think he hated Jimin and that Jimin was harassing him with his affections. I just wanted to show that all of that isn’t true and that’s why I chose to focus on Jungkook a lot. Sorry for the long reply!

I’m not 100% certain how this fits in w the timeline, but I do think JK plays a part in Jimin’s eating/weight struggles. However unintentional, I fear that some of JK’s teasing might have fed into JM’s insecurities in the very beginning. But more so I think JK played a big part in getting his attention to pull him out/make a change... I’ve read that it upset Jimin when Jungkook started following his eating patterns. He knew that it wasn’t healthy & didn’t want him doing it. I believe this has to have had a positive impact on him! (in the days when he was eating so very very little) It’s super important to me that u don’t think I’m saying JK was the CAUSE of Jimin’s weight struggles.. Honestly I think when someone is as big a part of ur life as the 2 of them are, of course they are impacting each other!! 💗 In general, in regards to Jimin’s feelings... how freaking exciting must it have been to have ur crush return ur affections!! Might be a cultural thing but to me when dating you are in a relationship. As soon as you have intimacy like kissing, holding hand and hugging and you expect the other one to not go and do the same with someone else, you are in a relationship. What is before dating is flirting. The stages are friends/strangers, flirting, dating (that s where you are in a relationship), engaged, married.. last two being optionals of course. I feel that the change we witness late 2015 and 2016 is them naturally evolving as their couple relationship grew, which basically kept happening until they took the next step to move together and settle down. In an Asian society, the boys in their early and mid twenties are considered very young. It is to their advantage that they do not have to “settle down” or be public about their private lives. That provides a bubble or safe space for them to mature, and decide later how to manage when they are stronger to face public judgment and discrimination. The fact that they have to undergo military service is another reason for many not to come out. This is a consideration in any military service, not just in Korea. One would be too vulnerable to many forms of bullying and abuse. So, please refrain from over simplifying a very serious and complex social issue that affects many youths (alienation and ostracising, moral condemnation and demonising, public shaming and insults, homelessness, broken families, depression and suicides), by suggesting homophobia can be solved with a company statement... These things take time, possibly decades...

As an Asian myself coming from an LGBTQ+ friendly country, many individuals still struggles a lot. Imagine South Korea where LGBTQ+ is pretty much non-existent in society. Saving face is a huge thing with family being the centre, another reason why suicide rate is high. They won’t risk hurting their family that way. Unfortunately, their society is quite rigid, judgmental and homogeneous. In terms of social reform, SK is quite slow. I’d rather have them be safe than be placed in such precarious situation.

Love your video so much! And I do believe that people who are in a similar situation with them, being part of the LGBTQ+ or being closeted, can understand more about their relationship. As I have a girlfriend too, I do think that the bond between jikook is more than close friend or brotherhood. No matter how they will deal with their relationship in the future, I just wish they can be themselves and just be happy.

I think the potential domestic backlash would be too great for any kind of deliberate coming out. The fear of harming of themselves, their careers, the members, the group, the label, their family and friends, and national pride is a substantial consideration, so either 1) there'd have to be a huge cultural shift in Korean society or 2) BTS as we know it today would have to become a non-issue (as in hiatus, dissolution, etc.).

I cried out of sadness and happiness multiple times watching this. Also thank you for telling us and trusting us with your experiences. I wish the world were different so they wouldn’t have to hide and lie by omission but that’s simply not where we are and safety is #1 and safety is #2. I hope that they have found something that works well for them and it seems like they have from your videos. I never cry from stories or movies so I was even surprised at myself because jikook was only on my radar jokingly the first month or so of being an army bc I’d seen from compilation vids how jk went from resisting jm pretty hard to giving in, which is super typical in the community and I’d say especially with men. So I am new to this bts thing and keep being drawn back to bts content out there. I am really not into this shipping Idea , especially when Jimmin is being attacked. Why are Jikook haters calling Jimin a pervert? They’re only 2 years apart and it’s quite clear he was very respectful of JKook’s ‘minority’ years up to his becoming an adult. And from what I’ve seen, it looks to me like V actually had a crush on/liked Jimin anyway. I've always been a Jikook shipper. The relationship has evolved over time... I even feel like they had a rough patch and a break at one point... but when I heard they were entering military service together... wow... I'm convinced they're back and strong. What about Jikook makes me feel the relationship is real? The intimacy! The knowledge they have about each other. And the intense physical closeness between them. They give each public displays of affection regardless of where they are and what cameras are watching. They've done every gesture of affection less a full on kiss on the mouth. I believe that BTS do kiss each other, especially when they left each other for millitary service. Just they don't kiss on camera. I kiss my family and friends... why wouldn't they? And they have travel logs called "Are You Sure?" coming soon??? I can hardly wait! I think the title should be "Are you sure... you're not shipping us?"
