What's super cool is in the DLC Mooncrash you find a lab where a mimic spontaneously tore open a hole to a pocket dimension... Full of shoes of course 🤣 But yeah, the mimics seem to be capable to tearing holes in the universe when they're trapped somewhere they can't escape, whether conscious or random. As we also see in game multiple mimics can gang up and pounce on another mimic, seeming to inject it with something from each of the mimics. The victim then starts confusing and floating, until it transforms into the Weaver, the large floating Typhon that create the Coral, which in turn seems to reach a critical mass with enough created to attract the alpha Typhon we face at the end of the game. Really cool to see the whole life cycle of the Typhon showed of if you pay attention.

Cool video. Although I love the creatures they seemed somewhat lazy as an idea because they could pretty much do what they wanted, they're huge or tiny, solid or not, invisibly still or agile and strong, conjure electric or fire, control minds and change state. Awesome yet op and you wouldn't realistically stand a chance against these things in reality.

loodlebop I kinda felt the story was lazy. There were so many logical flaws and plot holes. Can't allow any typhon material on earth? Did we forget what neuromods are made of? Sure, only the rich can afford them...but so what? Just makes it more dangerous. Now the people who actually make decisions are infected and lording over the non-infected with their alien powers. If you stop at any point to think about the plot it falls to pieces. It relies on you letting the action and desire to know more suspend your disbelief enough to not question any of it.

Jacob Freeman Theres plenty of materials which when unprocessed are harmful to humans yet when processed are harmless so your point makes no sense just because something is made from something doesn't mean it has the same properties. Lore wise the only people who got alien neuromods were experimentation subjects not a single bad thing happened because of regular neuromods it seems your ranting about stuff that has no bearing on anything that actually happened in the game.
@jacobfreeman5444
@jacobfreeman5444 6 жыл бұрын
christopher waldron It is a reactive substance of unknown properties. They focused on its ability to grant new abilities and not on what long term impact it had on the host body. But you are still injecting the biological matter of a "dead" alien creature into your brain. Those cells are now in the person and before that in the neuromod. If keeping those cells from reaching Earth was the goal of the game then it was goal that was a failure before it began. There is literally no reason to believe the typhon material is safe no matter the condition it is in. The scientists on Talos 1 mostly did not strike me as ethical but as achievement orientated. Producing something was more important to them then even human life. So why assume the typhon matter is safe even in the neuromod?
@trebot9292266
@trebot9292266 6 жыл бұрын
Neuromod risk was minimal compared to Typhon threat. any Typhon on earth would be the end of life on it and according to what we saw, this is a legit threat. considering the game was a sim it means they were not considering the long term effects of neuromods when the major risk to the earth was already known to be the typhon. The Typhon could not only overpower humans, they kind of did overpower the human race when they took the earth.

"Dimension" does NAWT mean "parallel world". Up/down is a dimension. Left/right is a dimension. Depth is a dimension. "Parallel world" is what people mean when they say "interdimensional", or by radically misunderstanding how the multiverse works. A parallel world is created each time a wave function is collapsed (à la Shrödinger). There is an unlimited number of parallel worlds that are similar to ours but differ in the outcome of one or several previous collapsed wave functions creating a sort of alternative history.

i think the typhons as a whole are interesting in a horror concept, the phantoms i think they live up to their name in design as there isnt anything you can dicern about them, they are always in a vivid rough shape, which makes htem ghostly in appearance all the while the other aliens are in shapes that are hard to comprehend

what i love about the mimics is how they are really well balanced for the game, in the beginning you were terrified of them, you saw a mimic run into a room and you were scared to follow and suspicious of every item yet later in the game once you got the hang of things and have upgraded yourself a bit you are able to take on several of them no problem, it really makes the progress feel real

How noob do you need to be to not hit a mimic. Only way is to have never took a controller in your hands, wich makes me think why do you even have a console instead of playing on pc. I'm a bit triggered becouse everyone says controllers suck while i can beat many pc players in many games (also unreal tournament and overwatch widow servers) with a controller without even being a pro. And there's no aim assist on pc for controllers.
@vanessap8477
@vanessap8477 6 жыл бұрын
@@WaveOfDestiny how arrogant do you need to be to act like you are something better. Prey's aiming and reaction time is shit. It's unprecise and feels way to heavy for quick combat. Trying to flex that you can beat PC gamers with a controller ( surprise you can use controllers on a PC as well ) because you seem to be Ultimately skilled is pathetic. The vast majority of people that plays games grew up with consoles and controllers. People are used to it. But some games just fucking suck on a console/with a controller. And aim assistant is not even the problem. It's just the slow reaction time and response the game has. And we are talking specifically about Prey. URT or Overwatch are working fine with controllers. They don't have these issues prey has. So to shorten it, don't be such an arrogant prick and flex on /v/ or Reddit. No one cares what or who you claim to beat with a controller. Be triggered on Tumblr. Preys aiming sucks.
@WaveOfDestiny
@WaveOfDestiny 6 жыл бұрын
Then don't say it like you are generalizing. Everyone seems to say "dude with a controller you can't even aim at a thing on the ground it's impossible for everyone and all console players are noobs" I wanted to talk to the first guy not you, but i wanted to tell you that i believe you are not a good measurement of how good controllers are, becouse it seemed like you wanted to support his argument with your experience. Since in my prey playthrough on pc with a controller i don't remember i ever missed a mimic or a shotgun blast or a 9mm shot ever it seems odd. I'm saying that i'm good, but definetly not that over the avarage. You never said prey aiming sucks, it looked like you said that aiming in any game with a controller is almost impossible. Since i've seen to many people say that and don't believe me i already put what i can do so you wouldn't ask me "stfu you probably just play fortnite" so i said i play ut and ow. (Ps ut, the new one, has one of the worst controller supports ever you don't even immagine how bad it is)

What if mimics are linked to "dark matter" or, the missing mass required for gravity to be able to hold celestial scale things together?

Now thats a good theory. Theres a couple of actual in game theories sciencetsts say that explain Mimic behaviour of Object Mimicing. Like Pocket dimension, or linking an object from another alternate dimension that appear as an object by human perceived "Mimicry" of the species. That's highly original theory on your part.

@@yunix2396 I just figure that dark matter is supposedly all this missing mass that we can't detect. But for them using it could be as easy as blowing air into a balloon.
