Rushton started making Santa plush figures for Coca-Cola starting in the 1950s at a cost of $3 each. To me, my opinion, I am surprised children weren’t frightened by his strange look. This wasn’t anything like the jovial, chubby bearded Santa that had been portrayed in their advertisements starting in the 1930s. Their portrayal of that iconic Santa are my favorite memories of what I thought came down the chimney on Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas.
