Very easy and she explains it perfectly. Lampshades are stupidly expensive in lamp stores.

It sooooo much easier if you put the lampshade on something bigger like a paint can…..or a butter churn….it won’t jiggle so much…..you give great directions

That turned out just beautiful, I love, love, love that fabric! You sure are good at explaining how to do things and I have been wanting to learn how to do this and have watched several videos but they always involved sewing, which unfortunately I never learned to do. Thank you!

I'm so glad this helped. I tried all kinds of ways to do this and this method is def the easiest and neatest in my opinion. everything else looks so DIY. Thank you so much for commenting.

Best tutorial I have ever seen for this! Thank you!!!! May I ask, what if my lampshade is tapered slightly (smaller diameter at top than bottom)?
@MimzyandCompany19 күн бұрын
Thank you!!! you just have spread the fabric strips farther at the bottom and closer at the top.

Fantastic video you have inspired me to do this, one question what was the thing you used to make the edging strip you pulled it through something ive never seen before ?
@MimzyandCompany5 ай бұрын
Thank you. It’s called a bias tape maker.

Hi. I watched your video and agree that it's the best one. So, I made my first shade today for a small lamp. The only thing I didn't like was the finish at the top. I put the band around the top no problem. But I could see where I cut the fabric at the top of the shade. I would like a more finished look. Is there an additional step that could be added to cover that? I would like to make more, but I need a solution for this. Thanks. Greetings from the great state of Georgia!
@MimzyandCompany9 күн бұрын
Thank you. I think you could make the binding a little bigger and then open it up to enclose the top.
@54sherryjАй бұрын
Great tutorial! Very easy to follow on how to make the pleats for a lampshade. I'm just wondering, what tool did you use when making the trim for the top and bottom?
@MimzyandCompanyАй бұрын
thank you. I used a binding maker. I have a link for it in the description.
@crawf3133 ай бұрын
12:42 Thanks for your video!! I'm wondering if it would create a clean look to "sandwich" the shade inbetween both sides of the bias tape? So one side of it goes inside the lamp shade. Is there a disadvantage to doing that?
@MimzyandCompany3 ай бұрын
No, no disadvantage other than it's more work. It would probably look very nice.

If you painted that big picture yourself…the. I would add some of the pinkish coral that is in the shade to,your painting
@MimzyandCompany4 ай бұрын
Hmmm. I could do that.
@nvaru816 ай бұрын
Will this method work with all shapes of lampshade?
@MimzyandCompany6 ай бұрын
Yes. But if you have a bell shaped shade it’ll end up flat. And if you have a square or rectangle you may need to cut 4 pieces wider to go around the corners.
@dangalek2895 ай бұрын
I forgot to as you the last time i messaged you, how do you calculate how many strips you need if you want to do what you are doing in this video 🤔
@MimzyandCompany5 ай бұрын
that's a good question. I just guessed at this attempt. But after doing this project I know that it took about 1/2 yard of decorator fabric(54" wide). Depends upon the size of the shade though...I'm about to do a few more shades...I'll let you know.
