The genre "BL" ain't enough to describe the depth of this masterpiece. I am an avid BL consumer, a fujoshi in japanese term. But, this movie brought me to deeper and broader perspective of self identity and understanding oneself along the course of denial and acceptance. And, it's so heart-piercing because it perfectly showcased the significance of every adults in a child's life no matter what the story because it is the greater catalyst in how a child develops his/her perspective while growing up. In this movie, the only adult that did not fail them was their teacher. Although, there were misunderstandings Mr. Hiro (their sensei) was the first person who understood them two even after getting fired from his job. In my perspective, he was the only REAL adult in their lives.

This movie completely blew my mind. I never expected a film like this could come out of Japan. It absolutely deserves the highest accolades and should be used as teaching material for educators. It powerfully shows how not to harm children, especially those who are unique and shouldn’t be treated as though they are all the same, as is often the case in authoritarian systems. Many children are incredibly talented but can be stifled or even ruined at an early age because teachers fail to recognize their potential-or, as happened to me, sometimes even act out of envy and do harmful things to them.

I can see why people say its a BL movie it kinda is but in its own special way i also see why people say there just kids but we have to understand that we can go through these feelings in any stages/age of our lives I feel this movie try to show us that but in a young age perspective

It's just about 2 kids who find themselves confused about discovering their feelings for each other, yes the film director has confirmed it is an lgbt based film, but it is not only about that.. it depics so many different topics in it too, i agree people should not view this just as a BL.. it is showing so much more, it is showing them struggling to figure out their own emotions and struggling to even understand what the emotions are.. and how they deal with the harsh outcome.

In my case I don't like the movies with "romance" when they are children's because the kids actually shouldn't living this kind of things But I understand why some people feel identified with this Storys I could not understand everything because I never like someone when I was a child

I mean it's more if an open ending. But i though they died in the storm that day which is why they were in a sunny bright happy day (afterlife) the next we see them. Dud they really not die then? I would love if they didn't died to be honest i was depressed for days when i watched tge movie last year. It's beautiful. Off topic but watch "All of us strangers" starring Andrew scott Paul Mescal 💕 you'd live it and there's a huge plot twist.
