Vivek Parshottam Das Bajaj primarily focuses on the food we eat and its impact on our consciousness. Born into a wealthy family in Bombay, his journey took him to various places, including Dehradun, Delhi, and Bengaluru. He later moved to the United States for his studies, where he earned a bachelor's degree in computer science, got married, and eventually settled. Vivek now runs a successful business, owns a million-dollar property in Mumbai, and now, lives in Vrindavan as a monk.
In the beginning of the podcast, Vivek discusses the environmental damage caused by plastic and suggests small steps we can take to mitigate this issue. Throughout the podcast, he emphasizes one specific shloka from the Bhagavad Gita, 3.13, which he considers the most important. The shloka states:
yajna-sistasinah Santo
mucyante sarva-kilbisaih
bhunjate te tv agham papa
ye pacanty atma-karanat
"The devotees of the Lord are released from all kinds of sins because they eat food which is offered first for sacrifice. Others, who prepare food for personal sense enjoyment, verily eat only sin."
Vivek explains that "verily" means with absolute certainty a 110%, indicating that those who do not offer their food to the Lord are indeed consuming sin. While acknowledging that this is a high standard to achieve, he suggests that the least we can do is to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle and avoid causing harm to other beings.
He elaborates on how our consciousness is influenced by what we eat, and emphasizes the importance of offering food to God to make it prasadam. He also provides guidance on how to perform this offering.
Towards the end of the podcast, Vivek shares his personal journey from the United States to Vrindavan, detailing how he decided to buy a flat there and ultimately make Vrindavan his permanent home.
