In this video, we are spending five jam packed days on a road trip around Iceland in a campervan. The long summer days allow us to cover a long list of activities on every day of our road trip itinerary. It really was a test of stamina by the end!
We cover three of the most popular regions in the west and south coast of the country. Mostly following Iceland's Ring Road where so many of the main attractions are found. The three regions in order of appearance are (some affiliate links for relevant tours are below):

The Golden Circle - this is a popular day trip that you can do on an organized tour from Reyjkjavic. We did this over two days with a stop beforehand at the Blue Lagoon. There are some amazing destinations on this loop including the epic Gulfoss waterfall, and the Geyser geothermal field.

South Coast - We hit the Ring Road late in Day 2 in our itinerary and this is where the trip really goes up a level. Some of the most amazing sights in Iceland are on this stretch of road including the mind-blowing Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon, and three epic waterfalls in quick succession; Seljalandfoss, Skogafoss, and Systrafoss. There are also incredible glaciers along the way and we reach our most eastern point at the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach.

Snæfellsjökull National Park - We decided to backtrack and drive all the way west coast of Iceland so that we could spend a day exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. This was an amazing day and well worth the additional miles we had to cover in the van. Highlights include Rauðfeldsgjá Gorge and the Lóndrangar rock formations along the coast. But the real star of the show was Kirkjufellfoss. This is an incredible place and was the perfect way to finish up our road trip!

We traveled by campervan and paid a bit extra for a three-person van rather than a two-person. This gave us some more space for suitcases and a proper dining table in the van. We highly recommend this (especially if you are easily frustrated by small spaces like me!). You can rent campervans here - prices are constantly changing so I have included a few options to help you get the best deal:

Hey that waterfall on the side of the road when I went back and looked at my video on my iPhone. It was marked on the map as Kirkjubajarklaustur. So doing a Google search, I found out it is called Fossálar waterfall which is located on the South Coast of Iceland, in the village of Kirkjubaejarklaustur right alongside the Ring Road .

Thanks for commenting. I have taken these names down on my notepad for future reference! It is an incredible stretch of road there with some of the small towns on the inland side of the ring road also having some incredible mountain views and diverse colours.

Excellent storytelling, thanks! (May I ask what website or app you used to book last-minute campsites? And was it challenging to secure campsite spots on such short notice during the peak summer season?)

It was not necessary to book in advance. Just turned up when I felt I was done driving for the day. There was always plenty of room :-) The flexibility of these trips is one of the things i love about it.

As your camper had only sleeping arrangement …where you guys use to do toilet? Reason for asking is I am curious to know whether I should take motorhome or camper van for 2person

You must stay overnight in a proper campsite. They are everywhere and most have all the facilities you need :-) The various stopovers will also have toilets to use - it was never really a problem.

There are campsites all over Iceland that have showers, bathrooms, and sometimes kitchens also. The various stopovers will also have toilets to use - it was never really a problem.

The prices will vary based on the time of year, and they have probably changed since our trip last year. Both times I have visited the country I rented through www.motorhomeiceland.com... Happy Camper is usually promoted by bloggers and KZbinrs because they an affiliate program, but i found them to be poor value so I didn't use them (nor do I promote them).
