I'm pretty sure you can go to the next hole to enter your score, while you're waiting for the people in front of you to putt. Going back to the beginning of the hole doesn't make sense if it's busy.

I know it may ruin the aesthetic a little, but first and foremost, it IS a mini golf course. And there was plenty of open space. So they really should have given a little thought to making sure players always had places to stand. Especially since they give out real single sided putters so you can't even putt lefty if you have a right club.

That scoring thing following you could get confusing if it is busy. Especially if there is a group with kids who graciously let people behind them play through. They should have like a bar code or QR code on one of the clubs that you scan to bring up that group. Or just a printed barcode to scan.
