So happy we were finally able to put this together. We've been talking about this one for a while. There just aren't a lot of good biblical resources available to help examine and expose Pokemon.

Amen! We definitely needed this!

The professing church considers pokemon as passe. And the vast majority of para-church orgs don't see it, which reveals the spiritual condition of the leadership of those organizations.

I’m only about 30 minute into your video so far, but I’m glad you’re doing a video on it. I’m 36, and grew up playing Pokemon, collecting the cards, etc. A year or so back, they came out with a new game on the Nintendo Switch, and I decided to get it because of the nostalgia (which you’ve already touched on). As I was playing it though, I began to be bothered by how many of the Pokemon had magical/mystical/occult powers. It really made me sad, because I didn’t remember any of that from when I was a child (I just didn’t recognize it when I was young). It was a fun game, but because of all the occult themes in the game, I won’t play it again. Your video is super interesting so far and I’m interested to see what else you’re going to bring to light. God bless!

I’m glad you’re finding the video helpful so far. It's important to understand what we're being exposed to through entertainment.
@FranquieАй бұрын
@ Totally agree. Some of this stuff is very deceptive, especially because on things like this your guard is down because it seems like something innocent from your childhood. I also like that you did a long form video and didn’t try and cram everything into a 30 minute video. I plan to share this video once I’m done watching.
@Once-lostАй бұрын
Thank you for noticing that. Some have criticized for the length, but we really did try to touch on all the issues!

@@Once-lost No one is being forced to watch the whole thing, and I really enjoy long form videos. It seems like hardly anyone creates videos more than 30 minutes, or at the max an hour, but sometimes it feels forced because there is so much more that could be covered and you’re forced to cut it short for no reason. That’s just my two cents!

Good points, men. Problems also include malice, lying, and violent effort to kill another. (Pls note: "aura" rather than "ora".) Ritual has the ability to effect altered consciousness - Satan's big goal in nearly every ideology outside of Christian salvation, because at that point, he will control the mind & emotions, and can draw a person to do heinous things, even outside of their own original personality and values.

It's crucial to be aware of these influences in our lives!

Please pray that this video would be a beneficial resource to churches and parents alike. So many kids (and young adults) are sucked into these kinds of "entertainment". And sadly, many don't even know or seem to care. May the research presented challenge many to draw nearer to Jesus! FYI, it's the number one in the industry for making money. It's hitting every area of life with games, videos, movies, culture, and NO ONE in the church is talking about it!

on a basic level, I believe children get used to "monsters" like Pokemon to not be scared of them, when really demonic things are usually (initially) frightening, even if we're called to overcome! like yo usaid, cute cuddly things! be careful when it looks innocent 👍🏻👍🏻

Finally listened to the end. Please share the links to the sites that show the backstory info for some of these overtly demonic (as contrasted to more subtle) characters. I know some who need to have eyes opened fast & hard; who admit that these are demonic, yet permit them in their home, and even purchase toward them.

Still working through the video, but my husband and I have an initial question about the issue of the creation story. Do you also think this issue makes Lord of the Rings problematic? The Silmarillion goes into the story of how the earth was created as well as its inhabitants. We haven’t felt a caution toward Lord of the Rings, but we’d like to hear your perspective on that.
@Once-lostАй бұрын
I think we addressed this a little when talking about the creation story from Pokemon, but we didn't cover it thoroughly. One might say that any fictional creation story from a fantasy world is simply that, fantasy. The issue comes in when people begin to follow something to the point of being obsessive. When fantasy becomes more of the focus and desire than reality, it's easy to let the storyline redirect and realign our hearts and minds. I know someone right now who found an extremely intricate storyline online that deals with a lot of fantasy backstories, mostly generated through AI. My caution to him was similar. Once too much attention is devoted to a fantasy story, even though we may not buy into the whole storyline, our attention may get drawn away from wanting the reality of the Lord, and instead hunger and thirst for the fantasy world we've connected with. Having a storyline that intricately involves evolution and mysticism, like Pokemon, combined with kids who spend enormous amounts of time fixated on it, may have the real possibility of unintentionally filling their hearts with a taste for the rebellious. That caution may be applied toward any fictional storyline, depending on the viewer or reader. Regarding Lord of the Rings specifically, there are a lot of Witchcraft elements to it. The current series on Amazon is called Power of the Rings. Gandalf is a "good" wizard. And others practice white magic. There's a lot of nature worship/focus and love for ritualistic, magical practices in the storyline, as well. I don't think there'd be anything wrong with taking a step back, even from Lord of the Rings, taking time to pray and search the Scriptures regarding whether it's worth spending time watching it. The last thing I'll say that we didn't address too much on the video, if at all, is that there was a time in our culture that fantasy was clearly fantasy and reality was clearly reality. People understood years ago that Superman was simply a fantasy. These days, partly due to film and other technologies, and partly due to the general sentiment of our culture, combined with the relativistic nature kids are growing up in, it is difficult for children to clearly discern the difference between truth and fiction. Children today are being primed and prepped for the occult on every front- through music, video games, movies, tv, social media, books, school curriculum, friends, and simply just from growing up in our post modern culture. Keeping this in mind, we, at Once Lost, take the view that believers have to approach things in our country even more carefully than 30-40 years ago.

In tonights Bible study, in Romans. Ch 1:32. Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. It covers allot of things mentioned in the chapter however, Pokémon is demonic to its core. It's leading souls into eternal darkness, how can a Christian think it's just fun and entertaining? As if it's ok for us because we are saved and the devil can't touch us. Which that's a lie too. I have seen too much. It turns my stomach.

We appreciate your thoughts and heart in sharing Romans 1! It’s important for us to examine the influences in our lives and how they align with the Bible. Engaging in these discussions can help us grow in the Lord and understand how to share with others.

Research the Samerian tablets. That's where the Bible came from. Same stories but different names. Written in stone over ten thousand years ago. I hear Christians preaching about things they know nothing of, but what they heard, read, and repeated from a preacher, priest, or other person. Go learn the history of Gods, let us make man in our image. Plural, more than one. Learn about the 6th day creation and about Adam, who was created on the 3rd day. Do you know the difference? Do you know Yeshua, not Jesus, is the name of power? Do you know where he spent his learning years before being baptized? Hint, the Essenes. There's so much I don't hear Christians talking about. They point out everything wrong with the world but not what's untrue in their own religious teachings. Yeah, please do more research, and I'm sure afterward, you'll be telling a different truth, the real truth. I don't see much of that from religions these days.
@Once-lostАй бұрын
Thank you for raising these points. Let me address them comprehensively and with respect, examining the historical and theological claims you've made while offering a Christian perspective. The claim that the Bible derived from Sumerian tablets, such as the "Epic of Gilgamesh" or other Mesopotamian texts, is a common assertion in comparative religion studies. It's true that there are similarities between some biblical accounts and ancient Mesopotamian literature-most notably the flood narrative in "Genesis" and the flood story in the "Epic of Gilgamesh". However, similarity does not equate to derivation. The Bible’s accounts, written within a specific cultural and theological context, present a fundamentally different worldview. Regarding the phrase, “Let us make man in our image” from Genesis 1:26, the plural language is a profound reflection of the triune nature of God-the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit-working in perfect unity. This passage not only reveals the relational essence within the Godhead but also speaks to the nature of humanity, created to mirror this divine image. Just as God exists as a perfect unity of three persons, human beings are uniquely designed with a triune nature: mind, body, and spirit. The Father’s creative will, the Son’s active involvement (as seen in John 1:3, where all things were made through Him), and the Spirit’s life-giving power (Genesis 1:2) converge to form humanity. In this act, God imparts to mankind the capacity for intellect, physicality, and spiritual communion. Far from suggesting multiple gods, this passage underscores the depth of divine unity and the special status of humans as bearers of God's multifaceted image. The assertion about a 6th-day and 3rd-day creation of man seems to misunderstand the Genesis account. Genesis 1 provides a chronological overview of creation, including humanity on the sixth day, while Genesis 2 offers a thematic and detailed focus on humanity's creation. Adam and Eve's story does not contradict the first account but elaborates on humanity’s unique role and relationship with God. There is no mention of Adam being created on the third day. Concerning the name Yeshua (the Hebrew/Aramaic form of Jesus), you are correct that it means "Yahweh saves" and was His given name during His earthly life. The English name “Jesus” comes through Greek (*Iēsous*) and Latin transliterations, reflecting the linguistic history of Scripture's transmission. Both names refer to the same person and carry the same meaning. The power of His name derives not from phonetics but from His person and authority as the incarnate Son of God. The claim that Jesus spent time learning among the Essenes before His public ministry is speculative and unsupported by historical evidence. While the Essenes were a Jewish sect known for their asceticism and isolation, the New Testament portrays Jesus as someone deeply rooted in the broader Jewish society, frequently engaging with Pharisees, Sadducees, and the common people. His wisdom and authority were often attributed to divine origin rather than any human education (Luke 2:46-47; John 7:15-16). Finally, your point about Christians needing to critically examine their own beliefs is well-taken. It’s true that some believers may accept teachings without deeper study or personal engagement. However, authentic Christianity calls for a faith that is both heartfelt and intellectually robust (1 Peter 3:15). The early church and Christian thinkers throughout history have wrestled deeply with Scripture, history, and philosophy to articulate coherent and truthful doctrines. I invite you to consider that the truth of Christianity is not about repeating dogma but about encountering the living God through Jesus Christ, who said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). The message of the Gospel transforms lives not through mere information but through divine relationship and grace. If you are genuinely seeking truth, I encourage you to explore Scripture with an open heart, as it contains answers to the deepest questions of life, purpose, and eternity.
