Hello Joshua, dear social media influencer :) One other video kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHOpoJ6lptlmjc0 says "kindness is in the little things"... So I appreciate when you present a greeting at the beginning of the video. Thanks for that! More and more social media influencers do not present a greeting in their videos. Some others did it before but gave up. To many people It's "just a little thing" and think that "Tuber just wants to get straight to the point". It's a little thing like a slip on a snowy slope causing a huge avalanche! Or if the jacket of the suit has one small thread frayed from the surface of the fabric, it is no anymore usable. What about leaving out a little greeting? Each video easily has thousands, tens of thousands and even hundreds of thousands of views. And when the same model is repeated in thousands of videos on numerous different channels. That's suddenly billions of views of influence. Young viewers in particular absorb influences without realizing it and eventually set a model for each other. And where does this lead? Most people in the world do not know what the Bible really is: The best and most reliable book of prophecy. Almost 2000 years ago, about the "last days" were written like this: "But know this, that in the last days Grievous times will be upon us. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, braggarts, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural feeling, unyielding, slanderers , without self-control, savage, haters of good, betrayers, reckless, puffed up, lovers of Pleasure rather than lovers of God," (2 Timothy 3:1-4)

Thanks! This is long. But I had to say thanks. You probably do not realize the effect one of these videos can have on a person. And way beyond the intended project. With me the actual project turned out to be me. I was (am) a very on the go DIY guy, and more of a DIYFEBY (or Do it yourself for everyone but yourself)). I would work in the office for 8 then in the shop or barn for 8. And loved every second. Three years ago I crushed my leg with a backhoe when avoiding wasp (I am allergic to ) I jumped on the back of the backhoe toe where it rotates and stepped on the and the outer stabilizer with my other foot and leaned in to turn it off. My belt was barely touching the electronic boom control lever. The boom slowly came around without me noticing when I leaned further in to look at guages and crushed my leg right above the ankle. Then I tried to make it uncrush and accidentally pivoted it cycled closed again. There was only a 12 mm of room. Once I opened it I swung the boom clear and jumped down on both legs, one which collapsed 5 inches. Then I laid there for hours before I was found. But with that, the ambulance ride, the 14 hours of surgery, etc I did not get a lot done that day. It was followed by a couple months in hospital and then several weeks in rehab. The leg lost all three arteries, shattered into 100 pieces, and stayed that way for a year and a half until some cocky idiot doctor was willing to operate on his idiot patient and throw a steel rod, some solder, titanium, JB weld, a hammer, chisel, popsicle sticks, a lever of a John Deere 2030 and some bronze plate and he brazed, glued, screwed and best it all together. And I had only gone him to have it cut off after other docs had said they could do nothing. But he said he had about a 5 percent chance of success with surgery and I had about the same for keeping it. Then he said I know I got my side covered because I know I am better than 95 out of 100. Doctors. And you seem to be a little cocky yourself so you want to give it a go. And I told him that sounded like great odds to me. And we were right. I put everything I had into getting better and stayed positive throughout. I can walk even run if I have to. But I used up everything I had mentally to get well. And then I hit a wall. I have been stuck mentally ever since. Just not able to get going. My wife said it was the traumatic event. But I can't think of anything that happened😉. Anyway, about a month ago I am moping around. My wife turns on the TV and grabs my phone. She goes on KZbin and searched something and randomly pulled up a video of yours on KZbin and started it on the TV and she said do something like this. Just go out to the shop and get going. It kooks like something you would do. I watched it and a couple more of yours and Boom. It was like the energy poured back into me. I went out to the shop and started cleaning up. Making room for a laser. It was a long story but I had to say thanks. So use this 100 bucks to save another person. Like I said, you never know.. I owe you bud! My name is Jim by the way. Nice to meet. I might bother you later with a question. By then we might be good friends. You never know!!!!

Jim it's my absolute pleasure, thank you so much for your kindness and encouragement. Your message actually made me tear up a little. I know what it's like to be in a dark pit and I can only thank God that I got pulled out of it. I'm really glad you've pulled yourself up and getting stuff done and better yet having fun too. I like to think I only fail when I've given up so if I don't give up I never fail, I now find that I now see life's obstacles as an opportunity to learn a new way round, it's challenging but there is always a way around. Feel free to ask anything you like whenever you like. All the very best. Cheers J

My shop class was the one class I couldnt wait to get to every day. Even as a computer nerd back in the day, I found a love for woodworking because of that class. even got a 'best of show' for the year for my project, lol. Now that was in the 90's, but it absolutely crushes me as well that kids dont get to have that same experience I did. the USA forgot about the trades - metalworking, wood working, etc. They pushed hands on kids to hands off industries and its showing today in a big way.

That looks like it might be a Laser Tree brand module. The 30W unit on aliexpress looks very similar except it has a display near the top (for temperature?) and I think the air assist might enter on the right instead of the left. I didn't realize these things were under a grand for something with that much power now. I'm interested to install one onto an existing CNC machine...

Regarding homing: set the software to home 5mm from the stops after triggering. I would also get rid of mechanical stops and use light stops. They are far more accurate due to lack of moving parts.

Those engraved stones are pretty amazing, worth playing with speeds and power to see if you get colours like slate. For production of 2-3mm plywood model kits this should be fast enough and much cheaper than CO2? 6 combined lasers means the spot/kerf size will be a little bit bigger but diode lasers have smaller kerf than CO2 anyway.
@joshuadelisle
@joshuadelisle 11 ай бұрын
Thank you. I think these 30-40w lasers are very practical and just as fast as my 50w CO2 on thin plywood. The dot size to me is better as you are engraving a wider surface so you can turn up the dpi and therefore the engravings are quicker. For cutting you'll be using an kerf offset so there is no difference between any laser dot size when it comes to cutting as long as the dot is square and not rectangular. Cheers J

These are cool. But do remember all it takes is for the beam to reflect off something for a split second to permamently mess up your vision in the eyeball the laser glint hits. There is no safety hood here, it's all in the open. All fun and games until it very suddenly is not. Respect lasers! I would either build some kind of enclosure with safety switches or have it in some closed off room where I nobody is there whilst it runs. I would not want to be anywhere in line of sight of this when it runs. You are essentially buying a half built laser here.

Hi , I'v just discovered your channel and this is the first video I've seen and I'm pretty excited about it. That's a pretty cool workshop. I admire the use of the old and the new technologies and I look forward to seeing more of them blended together, although I agree, they didn't quite marry together in your table which was still a nice display of those different technologies. The laser cuts are just too perfect sitting alongside the rustic arts of the forge. One question, in this price range, is this the laser engraver that you would recommend ?

Thank you so much. It's got a lot of good points but if you're willing to spend a little more I would go for the xTool D1 40w as you get a lot more laser for your money with that. I would say the Longer B1 30w is the best mid range between the two I mentioned. Cheers J
