Not really if you think about it. That's 8ml and each has their own travel case too. Creed sales 3 10ml refills for 250 with no travel case. MFK sales 1 travel case with 1 refill of 11ml for 125 or 1 travel case with 5 11ml for 275. This is more of a travel set then a discovery kit. They have have other discovery kits for much cheaper. 495 and each one has its own name of fragrance ingraved travel case seems like a good price.

I just bought Checkmate and J'Adoube from Neiman Marcus. Checkmate is heavenly and wafts wonderfully in the air that echos the notes throughout the life which lasted 12 hrs on my skin. I LOVED J'Adoube as it kinda reminded me of a darker Oud for Greatness. It's full dry down is ambery to me. Neiman gave me all the samples of the house and I'm excited to test them out. Thanks again for the video about them. I was so close to buying grandmaster, but Checkmate won out.

Just smelled Mind Games at Neiman Marcus. My favorites are Double Attack and Caissa. Caissa reminded me of a Tiziana Terenzi fragrance.

So I've been looking for a few good solid travel atomizers, something that won't break or leak, feels luxe and has a simple aesthetic. Aside from Floraiku I hadn't found much, and there's no easy way to get Floraiku without spending $250 per atomizer since the travel versions come without atomizers (you have to buy with a travel spray so your best bet is to buy the $250 50m). Tom Ford feels like they'd scratch easily, Diptyque's looks bizarre, Creed is a bit too much going on etc. I also have concerns about leaks with twist containers from many decant places. Saw this video and didn't think much of it, but saw the set in store at NM and the atomizers are exactly what I was looking for. The scents all smell good (though absolutely many I wouldn't buy on their own b/c I'm picky), but mainly buying the set for the long term so I can use the atomizers. Everything is heavy, weighted, durable, and aesthetically pleasing though they do take on fingerprints easily. The caps also have a very distinct snap when they click in and I'm not worried at all they'll leak. Frankly I'd have waited if I knew I'd be able to buy a few individually at a similar per piece price, but since its limited edition I'm not sure if that will be an option. If you've been looking for quality travel atomizers this may be worth considering, especially if you want to give away a few as gifts or split the cost with friends.

Lol I smelled all these at Niemans today and your 2 least favorite are my 2 most favorite 😂… then again the way you’re describing some of these is not the way my nose smelled them at all. Like the you loved with tabac/Santal notes smells like rose patchouli or rose Oud to me. And the blanc/fig one you described as “leather” smelled like coconut to me. 😂

I think checkmate would be my go-to from these 10. Ultimately, it's the quality and longevity of the juice that will get me to purchase any of them.

I smelled the collection at neiman, and gardez was the winner for me. My girlfriend smelled my arm all day or at least till it faded. Smells softer and a touch sweeter than ombré leather. It lacks the synthetic plastic note I find in ombré leather.

I’m a female and I have had so many compliments on Jdoube. It’s way better on skin. I am addicted to this fragrance. I like double attack but I like it more on a man than me. I recently tried checkmate and I love this one too but it seems a little bit light for winter. It’s not as strong or long lasting as Jdoube or double attack.

Wow that is a pricey discovery set! Interesting concept- well thought out, intellectualized chess references throughout.. Waiting for En Passant and Check! Also French Defense🤣🤣🤣 to my mind they sound a bit pretentious so the art of the perfumers had best make up for that.. Nevertheless I bet some of them are really nice- how could Checkmate be bad?

I was just at Neiman's yesterday and smelled all of them. I fell in love with double attack upon first spray and my husband really liked checkmate (along with double attack). We ended up purchasing a fragrance from The Harmonist and the SA was generous enough to provide us with samples of those we liked from Mind Games. Can't wait to play around with my samples! 😍

Pomegranate fragrance I want to try is Banana Republic Velvet Pomegranate by Christelle Laprade. Top notes are Pomegranate, Calabrian bergamot, Pear and Rhubarb; middle notes are Tuberose, Orange Blossom and Egyptian Jasmine; base notes are Bourbon Vanilla, Indonesian Patchouli Leaf and Musk.

Wow! These sound stellar! I love the whole chess theme...Double Attack and Checkmate sound the most interesting to me as well! And yeah - that "sample" pack is crazy expensive! But, when I think about it - I may have spent $195 for 5 10ml travel size Zoologist fragrances...And here you get 10 8ml fragrances...So, I mean, they're obviously super luxury - but, if you can afford it and you want to try some new, really nice sounding fragrances - you better go for it huh?

Honestly, they seem kinda uninteresting on basis of note lists. Little bit paint by numbers niche; rhubarb, and oud, and incense, oh my. I don’t really get the chess tie in either. Like how does chess inspire a scent? I like scents that have a story to them, or at least a guiding concept beyond just ‘it smells good”. I guess that’s why I like Zoologist. Curious to see what the prices will be. The size of that sample kit says high to me, but hope I’m wrong.

I agree with this. Honestly, to me this has to be one of the worst/lamest and most non-sensiscal branding concepts. But trying so hard to be luxury, so that makes it all the worse. The brand name is silly and the concept leads to head-scratching fragrance names. I’m not into chess though, so maybe that’s an issue. Is there some correlation between the chess terms and the scent profiles… how did they decide which frag correlated with which chess term? Strangely however, I think “Mind Games” would actually be a good name for an individual fragrance. Obviously it’s the fragrance itself that ultimately matters, but I’m not sure I could ever get myself to spend $200+ to have a bottle in my collection that says “double attack” or “grand master” on it.

I agree, i was with my gf and her friend and we all loved blockade, theyre not really into fragrances so if they liked it im sure most people will as well. Its got one of the most realistic but wearable mango notes ive ever come across

To my ear, not nose, these sound like some other fragrances or takes on popular categories. Like something that I could find in Xerjoff or TT catalogue for example. For proper opinion you need to smell them of course, but on paper I kind of wish for something more original. IDK, maybe I am just having fatigue from fragrances LOL

My follow up on Scholars mate. The perfumer is Christelle Laprade was inspired by the age old art of Shou Sugi ban , an Japanese technique of preserving woods by charring them with fire. So she used smokey woods like vetiver and cedar along with green notes Elemi and Cardamon leaf. This scent is a masterpiece . I VALUE Sebastian's opinion but I don't think he gave this one enough consideration
