Desiree, what is interesting about Ren's art and lyrics is that you do not have to understnad exactly what he is saying. You only need to FEEL what he is saying and express how it makes you FEEL. This is my new favorite Ren song.... Flow, rhyme scheme, word-play, depth of lyrics. FIRE! "Bones are the home where the devil rests (Lymes disease attacked his bones)". "I watched God jump". Here Ren is saying God was dead to him and he bowed to his new god (his disease) and begged for mercy.... I have heard it more than 60 times. I still bob and weave to the beat sometimes with anger and fighting back tears. So much passion and energy... Lastly, I'll say you channel your choice but, I have watched thousands of reactions and keep coming back for every one of your Ren and Tom reactions and like them I have not seen others but its not because of you. When people come here to drop hate type comments, it honestly says a lot more about them than anything else. I mean think about it, if you don't like an artist and/or a reactor you don't go and seek it/them out and leave comments saying as such, unless you've a angry or bitter mindset, you just search for things you like (regular, balanced people do anyhow). It's like if you don't drink you wouldn't go to the alcohol aisle and start looking around at the products. I know it's easy to say ignore them, but it really is the best thing to do, those type of people seem to live for the reaction people give to them (Like it's all they have, perhaps even the only way they get acknowledgement, kinda sad really) Anyhow, back to your reactions, I personally find there are different types of reactors, those that breakdown the lyrics, those that breakdown their feelings about what they watch/listen to or those that simply give their point of view to the content. Hi Desiree, thanks for your reaction :) I thought I would share my thoughts as follows : The lyrics open with Welsh, "Illness is my teacher, It broke my smile. My bones feel old. Here lies the body of Ren." I could see why you thought he was accepting the pain, indeed because he sees it's utility in His life and takes it as the new beginning point(s) he can be born forth from; mothered in pain itself. Regarding victims, as you refer to... who knows what anyone is or has gone through ;) Anyhow, Ren searches for peace in the belly of the because he says regarding himself he's a sick boy and 7 are his sins. I might tell myself if Ren can accept all the horrible pain with gratitude, how much more ought I? 11:26 It seems he is referencing that even after seeing the divine in another he has seen that same one lost via ending themself. First Ren’s friend Joe comes to mind for this reason but it may apply to all of us who can say they have their own "Self-made Armageddon" ... with 7 being their sins. We see this echoed in his song Sickboi with the lyrics being "Science tells us that it’s su'' cide and still we commit... we are sick, we are standing on a cliff... in the name of progress, we jump off the precipice" but most directly this seems to refer to the opposite actor to the one identified in "Hi Ren" as he who is known as "the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope". This is my favorite song too. "It's crazy" is right, seen no other artist like him.

Hey girl... never fret about how bright you may or may not come across. I'm from the North East of England. English is our 1st languge yet I only know Bad English and Worse English I think when he says God tied a noose, it's just questioning faith when the devil lives in your bones. But I may be totally wrong His words may not be biblical, but at the same time they are. Watching an interview he gave he kept saying about hurting in the dark but you will find your way to the light and then you need to learn to forgive yourself for all the dark, thoughts etc you had while in the dark He's agnostic. I think people forget that an Agnostic is not an atheist I've seen people who are great at analysing songs and I love it. But I love to see people simply enjoy it and talking about how it made them feel... that's as much as I could ever do. Love from the UK ❤
