Winter has come to Japan☃️ How are you all doing?
This is a record of return to my hometown, Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, for the first time in three years. I will show you sushi, green tea maccha, traditional kilns, Yaegaki Shrine, Matsue Castle, etc., along with daily life in the countryside.
Shimane Prefecture is the second least populated prefecture in Japan and is a real countryside with many old people.
Please SUBSCRIBE as I will be uploading regularly ;) 🧡

Beautiful video. Brings back memories from when I studied at Shimane University. I used to walk all around the city, so many beautiful sites in Matsue.

Ha! When you're ready to escape slavery in Tokyo, let me know. I'm preparing a place. Have you ever been to Onomichi?

Hey, I just discovered your video and really appreciate it! It had brought back a lot of strong feelings, thoughts, and self-reflection despite never visiting Matsue myself. Would you recommend tourists to visit Matsue and Hagi? I am planning a trip for November and want to go for a peaceful, relaxing vibe outside the city and typical tourist spots.

@roketman3770 Thank you for your comment! I am not familiar with Hagi, but Matsue is a good choice for those who want a relaxing trip. Have you already visited Japan several times? You will find the countryside quite different from Tokyo or Osaka.

@@tokyocuriosity I have been to Japan a few times, namely - Tokyo, Gunma (Kusastsu onsen), Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Sakurajima, Okinawa and the smaller islands Ishigaki, Miyakojima. That was before Corona though. This time around, I have a month and a rough sketch of where to visit. I got the 21 day JR pass, but open to fly if needed. I was thinking of visiting Tohoku (Aomori, Akita, Morioka), Hokkaido (Hakodate, Sapporo, Nobo), and/or other less trekked places like Miyazaki, Matsue, Beppu, Chiba? I guess I would prefer more of a smaller city feel, try out a nice ryokan, prioritizing good food, buying some artisanware (like Matsue tea goods haha), and not a completely remote inaka/akiya trip lol. I would prefer to refrain from driving if possible (less logistics), but I can if needed. I also have a motorcycle license if riding is better. I am not firm with present plans, and open to any suggestions! Sorry if this turned out to be a reddit post 🤣

@@rocketman3770 hey it's me on my other YT account (YT premium) haha. I ended up visiting Matsue and it was awesome! I did the boat tour around the castle, ate some good food, drank tea and ate wakashi sweets. Surprisingly, most if not all teas in Matsue are not even made or processed in Matsue 😂 They are often from Kyoto, and other areas. I had confirmed with the storekeepers. In fact, one shop (the oldest one in Matsue) even told me that Matsue's tea is bitter and Kyoto tea is more 甘い, so it is better 😂 I had stayed at Onyado Nono, and the whole experience was so relaxing. Sadly, as you stated, these smaller cities have a drought of young professionals. Sendai is also quite empty after 9PM, but likely for different reasons. I am on my way to Hokkaido next before finishing off in Tokyo. Thanks again for your video, it was super insightful and I didn't have to look up VLOGs for 松江市 😅

Normally, access to Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, is by flight from Haneda Airport in Tokyo to Yonago or Izumo Airport. Ticket prices vary depending on the time of year. The cheapest time of year is about 13,000 yen one-way, while the most expensive time of year can be over 30,000 yen one-way. The price is higher during consecutive holidays and year-end and New Year holidays.
