I wondered if anybody else would notice that. talk about crass. I lived in South Carolina back then, and nobody aired commercials during the early hours of the catastrophe. most of the small stations connected with larger stations so you got the news from the source with the most ability to get news. Realization of what was taking place hadn't truly set in. I've listened to other broadcasts and there were people that actually laughed during their commentaries... Their was shock first, and the first thing we do as human beings is to try and accept those kind of events as small things... That is until the mind can began to absorb the reality of the situation... Then we began to accept, show respect, and grieve..
@BlueCyann5 жыл бұрын
Not to defend exactly, especially later, but people really didn't understand at first. Many of the callers were underestimating the size of the plane or hadn't seen it; it was easy to believe or to hope it was a horrible-looking but relatively minor accident. Where you wouldn't necessarily cancel commercials if you heard of a small plane crashing into a building somewhere. Of course I didn't personally have to listen to commercials going on all day (we had a radio playing at work, but it was on a different station), so I'm just responding to the impact of what I did hear.
