It's not cancer. Floor's mother suffers from painful bouts of rheumatism. On the other hand, Emma's mother is a cancer survivor, which is why she picked that song and why she felt that connection with it.

Emma did a great job by singing this very emotional song for Floor, and she touched Floor deeply. She found her fame online, that much is true and it is also true that she wasnt very well known in the Netherlands prior to the show...eventho she has like 2.1 million followers. But this show sure put her on the map because she did such a convincing job this season, and she now is doing actual concerts (well not exactly now due to Corona restrictions) And rightfully so, Emma is a very good singer and entertainer and a lovely young lady who deserves the success she's been working so hard for for many years, from childhood on. I'm happy to see you guys enjoying the show and the artists on it, call it a little bit of Dutch pride and a joy to see other people discover our "little gems" we have to share with the world. And Emma is certainly one of those Gems, just like Floor, Henk and Rolf, but i'll leave it to you guys to discover the the other gems we got, a bit of homework you might call it ;) Thnx for the react and upload guys :)

This was no doubt the first time listening to the song a while, as she really couldn't bear to, as it always brought the feels. As it became popular on the show thanks to Emma, Floor bravely included it into her solo shows, like the one you reacted to.

If you guys want to hear the best version of 'Lose Yourself' go look for Maria Fiselier. She was on the program 2 seasons ago, also an opera singer that just slays the song. Another recommendation 'Henk Poort - Your Man'. There you can see Henk turn into Hank and the old dog shows he knows how to play the guitar and swoon the ladies.

Floor wrote this about her mother who has very painfull rhumatism, emma choose this song cause when she was very young her mother had cancer (and survived) so it means the same for her

The Floor version you watched is based on this one that Emma did for Floor. The original version of the song is quite different but Emma and the band from this show, I think it's the Marcel Fisser band or something like that created this version for Beste Zangers and Floor...well you can see what she thought about it!

I'd love to see you guys react to one of the songs from the Bestest Zangers that's in Dutch. There are really good ones from this season if you want inspo: Tim Akkerman 'breng hem thuis'. Tragic song from Les Miserables sung for Henk Poort. Henk Poort 'Vincent'. Soft & emotional song about the life of Vincent van Gogh. Henk Poort 'wees zuinig op mn meisie'. This is a pretty traditional Dutch song. A genre people either love or hate over here. But it would be interesting to see how you feel about it. And from the previous season I would recommend Davina Michelle 'duurt te lang'. A rap song turned pop that became a huge hit in the Netherlands.

It's too much dutch. They do not understand it although the performances were very good. They have their own versions in english (Bring him home and the original version of Vincent). If somebody (Denise Hoffs?) could translate 'Wees Zuinig Op Mijn meissie' into english that would be awesome.

@@Jos_G. tons of people enjoy listening to music in other languages. It allows you to listen to the music, the sound of the voice and emotions, without getting distracted by lyrics. And learning how music from other countries differs is also interesting even if you don't like the style yourself.

At first Emma played it safe because of the professional audience and i was not really impressed until she took a risk by picking this song and showed of her talent. As you already noticed Floor was equally impressed and has been coaching her a little to write her own songs for a album.

All other participants did a great job on that 2019 show. Another suggestion from Beste Zangers (season 2018) is opera singer Maria Fiselier (prn. = physelear) with her cover of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” kzbin.info/www/bejne/borcpnyhi7irY5o. Worth watching and hearing. Or (another former) KZbin-artist, Davina Michele, who got to be the support act for P!nk’s Beautiful Trauma Tour in the Netherlands. It was an incredible experience for her.
