Epic game! These GM skill level games are always fun to play and watch. I had to mention this, your first attack at 26:14 (or even later attacks too), instead of rallying then hitting attack, I would've done a rally at that south edge, destroyed the cc, then made another rally point at the mid-left most part of the map. They would fly over ignoring those turret positions, which then you hit attack once your in the guts of his base, destroying him from the inside. Imo at GM level, anyone can macro (economy) hard, but its micro (army movement) skills that would give you an edge. Nonetheless, an epic game and crushing him head on too, was glad to be able to watch it!

what was preventing either f you from hopping in a cluster of units and using them yourself? was that the player damage set to 0 thing?

In v6 all direct player control of units was disabled by the plugin. So direct control, formation, and logic. It was the solution to the issue of balancing attack vs defense; when attacks can be easily guided then the amount of defense needed to plug all holes requires too much player attention, and there isn't any time leftover to do anything else. In v7 a solution to that problem that seems to work half decently is to punish units that are moved too far away from friendly cores with % chance of death. That way you don't have to full blown defend everything, you just need to stop someone from taking any cores close to your stuff.

Cool video but it made me sad to not see the final push! There's no way you need those final factories you're building. The final 5 minutes of glory is spent just watching some blocks slowly build, occasionally checking the map. If it was me, I'd be watching the kill in slow motion!

The map is randomly generated each new game. If you connect to the server and then save, you can get the map file out of the save.

Does anyone know how to setup a server or how fast of a computer is required?

This is how I do it: Rent a Virtual Machine from a cloud computing provider. Per server you just need 1 core of an x86 type processor and 2 GB of RAM. If you don't expect large games you could get by with cheaper. Connect to the terminal on the VM and install Java Development Kit version 16 or 17. The linux version on your VM should have a package manger command that takes care of that for you. Get the dedicated server .jar file from the Mindustry page on itch.io Start the server with the command "java -jar server-release.jar"
