Slab City is on my ‘to-do’ list as a place to visit. Anyone who has been to skid row, knows how bad it can really get. I thought NYC was bad, until I saw skid row. It was life changing and eye opening. This was back when I was still a corporate crony/right-wing conservative (22). If I were a billionaire, I’d build them a few earth-ship styled, fully self-sustainable green buildings. And help establish legislation to never allow ‘for-profit’ developers. All they need is to implement some ridiculously low tax (like 0.25 per year for the next 5k years) and they can even get some sort of services like healthcare and un-invasive self-policing training. More geared towards EMT stuff. Or mental health assistance. Crime happens everywhere, but compared to elsewhere, they’re not doing so bad w no police. We need more free places on this planet.

My wife, 3 dogs(one of which was a Doberman), a parrot, a newborn and I lived in a camper for almost 2 years. It wasn’t even remotely bad, I actually really enjoyed it. I don’t think it would go over very well with our toddler now. If it was just myself it could’ve been a whole lot smaller. I lived in a little 14ft(I think) camper through fall and winter as a young man. Running water didn’t resist and food was pretty basic can and dry goods. I had to get pretty creative with my bathroom setup. I had a few deep holes that I dug when it was warmer. I would dump my waste in and then drop a scoop if loose dirt on top and place the cover back over them to the snow didn’t fill them in. I also rotated where I slept based on temperature. If it was hot, I slept on the floor if it was frozen, I slept in a bunk as close to the ceiling as I could get. If it wasn’t to bad out I would sit next to a little fire and watch the night go by. I was able to use the shower inside my dad’s place and if I need to clean clothes or whatever but it was kept to a minimum because of the troubles I was dealing with my step mom.

@@user-zx5kq6hs9d my stepmom found me as a threat, somehow taking time away from his and her 4 daughters. I had spent 15 years not allowed to even talk to my dad on the phone because of mom and step dad, then it was stepmom refusing to let him and I to spend time alone. If he wanted to go fishing with me he had to take them as well. Which, to this day none of them fish. She would get mad that I would get done at work at 3am and wanted to sleep past 9 in the morning and would stomp around yelling and making sure she was heard. Her sister was visiting and she started throwing some nasty fits directed at and/or about me so I went off. It’s the first time I damn near hit a grown woman. I walked away so pissed I ended up breaking my hand after hitting after hitting a wood post several times. I got down to my grandparents and made a call and setup to catch a bus ASAP to my mom’s side of the family. After I knew my stepmom was out I went back and packed my 2 gym bags of stuff and my grandma called my dad and he didn’t want me to leave. He hated her and only stayed with her out of fear of her doing what my mom did with me. After the last girl hit high school he finally divorced her. He let her do her drugs and cheat and basically treated her like a roommate instead of a spouse. She could do whatever she wanted as long as it wasn’t there at the house or around the girls. Anyhow, he offered me to stay in that instead of leaving. I was 19, didn’t have a car and had to leave a job that I could earn enough to get a car and even my own place because I didn’t have reliable transportation. I bought a car for $500 and put $2,000 on just getting it running and street legal but it lasted about a month before it blew up. I didn’t really have many options for a high school dropout with no businesses within 10-15 miles of that place. I didn’t want to lose my dad either. I had finally been allowed to see him at 17 so we were still trying to figure out the father/son thing. After all that mess and more at 22 I joined the USAF.

It is NOT the needy people- but the greedy people who run the show - simply incredible
@MikeGreenwood51
@MikeGreenwood51 Ай бұрын
You mentioned the needy & greedy but not the feedy people. When your mother controlled he brest at feeding time and fed you her mother's milk. Was she being greedy? I do mot believe that at all. But as a Feedy type foody commercial supplies provider as well as feeder of the genuine homeless needy. I see there seems always a fine line between the genuine needy in need of charity and those who are work shy social degenerates who actually choose to be degenerates and as such try to use their lies to gain attention or charity. Given the chance they would free load and paracite the whole of their lives sucking the breasts dry till they become fat and eventully die. So is it in all cases the Greedy running the show? What if there really was a big black dark hole called the abyss in to which every soul on earth could fall in to. Are the greedy those who try to climb out and are the needy the weak and disabled who can not climb out.? Or are the needy those who will not move untill there is a free piggyback ride up the hill? Those who could work (climb out) but choose to take degenerating debilitating drugs and would not even help the real needy who are disabled or too old or trapped. It is a massive major subject and too vast a problem to be simply expressed as 'NOT the needy people- but the greedy people running the show'. But that was a form of Maxist idology where the factory owners (Providers or goods, servives and employment) were type cast as the Greedy whilst the common working, labouring classes (The Needey) were seen as those to over throw and take possession by violent revolution those Greedy people running thier show. Tradgically the Maxist solution did not solve the problem and tradgically it led to Tens of millions being murdered and mass famines as those who took over did not run the factories for the benefit of The People as the whole ideology was opposed to profiteering. Therefore the entire economy colapsed and the work force or labouring force left to do the work were the Forced Labour in the hundreds of Gulag Concentration camps. But were those factory owners really The Greedy or just trying to survive in the same world as everu one else. Trying to prevent themselves sliding down in to the abyss of proverty and stagnation? The mother's milk which fed you had to come from somewhere. Whilst a mother could feed an extra child or two. Her production is still limited and so when an army arrives or the Town's economy colapes. Her two breasts may be deficient at feeding the thousands of hungry hords who may also want to take a few bottles home for their own other children or aging parents. So should in those circumstances the mother say 'Come Ye, Come ye all and suck' but knowing she can only feed a few and a few of those with smaller bellies and smaller mouths? Should she give her limited resources to all including the degenerates who choose to be degenerates, The illegal drug uses who against the Nation's laws and advice drop out of society and go in to self degeneration and begging. Remembering that many of those criminals, degenerates and self retarding junkies would not even help the real needy and the real disabled. Should they be allowed to free load as societal paracites sucking the breasts empty 24/7 52 weeks a year. Yes some freedom should be permitted but not the deterement of the whole community. So a line must be drawn between good and bad, right and wrong with some of those clearly incapable due to their own neglect or own selfish drop out junky degeneracy being cut off and prevented from taking the human Kindness Mother's milk which is needey due to shortage of suply to the real needy. Point is. There is always going to be those at the bottom of society. Those worthy of nothing better than being told 'No'. Or of being cut off or only fit for prison. So there will always be some groups just starting out. Even if they were on a path to just self substainability they would be far above the slum class of degenerate hoodlums who would not be of good service to any one unless they victimised someone such as a bank or shop keeper and stole his money and then gave a little to some fellow person in need. But again that has not solved the problem as it has made others poor or worse victims of theft. So robbery does not end the cycle buy continues it. And where do you fit in. Are you one who is only prepared to go as far as saying those who run the show are greedy and then sit back and self degenerate or refuse to help others in need. Or are you going to try to help others and climb out of that abyss and become what you called 'The Greedy'. Or have you an other class of people other than just your black and white Needy and Greedy. More people in the world are provided for by millions of providers who in my estimation should not be classed as Greedy even when they as the provider are also those running the provisions show.

Roadworks regularly. On top of that, right in front of my living room window and bedroom there's traffic lights. Cars, motorbikes etc have to stand still and take off full speed right in front. I cannot open windows as noise and smell make it impossible. In summer it's deadly! To top all that.. They build these flats, not insulated, in swamp ground. They are really damp and cold. Thank you for assembling these views of EXTREMITIES of Life. Just 8 minutes in, and already I am able to appreciate the many joys and advantages of my present circumstances as I have NOT done in some time. I lived on a ranch for a few years, but it was within a half hour's drive of plenty of stores, groceries, restaurants, churches, hospitals, schools, fire stations, law enforcement, attorneys, clinical psychologists, wineries, Dingey Bars, Masseuses, surveyors, Emergency Medical Services, and on and on. Just not so close that I had to look at'em all the live-long day.

10:22 I was attracted immediately and did some homework. This beautiful village is called 望仙谷 Wangxian Valley in Shangrao city, Jiangxi Province. It has nothing to do with "two hundred year old village for people with no money. It was built for tourists about ten years ago. Regardless, it looks amazing to me and I want to go there and live in those cliff cabins for a few nights. I went to Sanqingshan(三清山)three months ago, which is also in Shangrao city. Very affordable, nice people, clean environment, and breath-taking mountain view. I love China.

You did notice that some of those 'horrendous' places were right here in the U.S., specifically California, but many other places in other states are about the same. I often say to fellow Americans when they complain about first and second world things here (such as many Republicans do) to go try and spend some time in a poor country and then see if they still complain when they get back. People in Western developed countries do not realize how good they got it sometimes and take things for granted. Not enough appreciation.
