I live in Tulsa and I remember when they excavated the car, it was live on the news, when they removed the concrete slab and they saw the water in there with the car everyones heart sank, you could just feel the energy in the crowd subside. Eveyone thought that the car was rusted beyond repair. But I'm glad that they were able to make the car shine again.

The first car I looked at to buy with my own money was a 57' Ply. Fury while in my Sr year of HS in 75. The guy wanted $50 for it. My brother took me to look at it in his 65' Ford Galaxie 500 running stock dual exhaust with glass pack mufflers and cragar rims at all 4 corners and G-60x15s on the rear. The guy showed me they car and just as he was starting it up the engine seized up. We checked the oil and the oil was like gunk. Other than my hand me down car the first car I ended actually buying was a 69' Ply Roadrunner.

Well, was born in '52 and can tell y'all the technology at that time was what they did, concrete and tar. Times in the 60s were a less stressful, my weekly allowance was 25 cents, but I could buy a candy bar and a BIG 16 oz soda and have money left over. I got 50 cents for cutting neighbor's yard. Could fill up my car for 2 bucks. Then I got a job and got paid 1.65 an hour, WOW.

No... People thought those cars were a major hunk of junk even when they were new. All Chrysler products suffered that year, including Chrysler, Dodge, Imperial, Plymouth, and DeSoto. The '57 Plymouth had major MAJOR quality problems. For those who don't know, a Plymouth Belvedere was used in the movie Christine. Christine was a 1958 Plymouth Belvedere. The 1958 year had much better quality than the previous. And no, the Belvedere was not the top of the line Plymouth for 1957. It was the Plymouth Fury.

First: The 1957 Plymouth was not a luxury car. It was a low price car. Two: It was not restored. The car they showed is another '57 Plymouth painted to look like the time capsule car. The real car was too far gone. The car should have been left in it's original condition as it was worth more (historically) that way. The keys weren't found because they were aluminum and rotted away in the water. Another thing that didn't help was the acid in the battery leaked into the water and helped rot the car.
@1928ModelA19316 жыл бұрын
While the '57 Belvedere was de-rusted, after ten years the car has been determined as irreparable. It is going to be displayed in an Illinois museum but it is far from perfect. The photo of the shiny "restored" Miss Belvedere in the video is not the actual car. See the link to see it at auction in 2017. www.hemmings.com/blog/2017/06/28/after-10-years-of-de-rusting-miss-belvedere-finds-new-home-in-a-museum/

edwoll77 here's a story I would like to tell you. Hundreds of years ago I'm believing it was in England. A king wanted a bridge built. A Mason said I will build you that bridge King. So the king let the Mason build in a bridge. After the bridge was completed the king did not think the bridge could withstand some years. So he told the Mason I'm not going to pay you for the building of this bridge for 50 years. The Mason lived and got his money. The bridge today is still standing and a few years ago they stopped driving over it.

Imagine if the company that built the vault in 57' also was the same company that built the foundation to your house. Your basement would flooded.

Why did they show a movie of a 1956 Plymouth? And since when was Plymouth ever considered a “luxury car“? And in 1957 the tape cassette had not been invented yet. What is the point of all this?

4:48 once I saw the car I was done with the video. How about less talking and taking content from other creators and more info on subject of matter? Thanks

Mind Warehouse the 57 Plymouth was not a luxury car. It was actually at the bottom of the rung of the 5 Chrysler divisions. A luxury car was about $5,000 or so.
